Australian Visa For G/F

Featured Replies

Like so many others my Thai g/f is wanting a tourist visa for Australia (one month). After all the forums i have read and Australia embassy requirements, im very confused.

Would very much like feed back from anyone that has gone through this proses successfully.

The facts

-I have been frequently travelling to Thailand for past 5 years.

-we have been together for 2 years, i have lived with her for 5 months in Thailand on one occasion.

-she has a house in Bangkok with a small mortgage still remaining.

-she has own business selling in various markets but no work permit.

-I am gainfully self employed in Australia and financially secure.

Do i need to be in Thailand to present any documentation on my behalf (if needed) for her to apply for visa? Or is it possible for her to apply by her self?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

the thin g she needs to do the most is show that she has good reason to return to thailand. her relationship with you does not help this fact. proof of return . so the house the business are the things that add weight to a tourist visa. her relationship with you would be good for a partner visa etc.

the documents can be sent to her and then put in with the application

remember this is her application as she is the one coming here as a tourist.

cheers

im sure others will add to this

Certainly agreeing with Elwood62's advice above.

My Thai gf recently got her Visa.

Have a read of this post and it might smooth out a few of the bumps for you.

Good Luck.

My mate applied for his g/f in Brisbane and go the visa easily ! I think it was for 3 mths.

Seems the AUS Embassy can be a bit sketchy when it comes to approving Tourist Visa's.

Last week (Monday) me and the Missus went down to VFS to lodge her application with what amounted to a bare minimum application. Only supporting documents supplied was a cover letter from me along with copies of my work permit and the past 3 yrs of houses leases (both our names listed) a few payslips and my bank statements.

I also attached a form 956 as I filled out her application (49R).

She owns no property here, no children, does not work and has zero money in her account.

Her passport was returned via mail and received last Friday with a visa intact.

Spoonman

It's been a few years since I set foot in the VFS.

Is there still the security guard at the door, the sign-in book?

Are YOU still allowed to enter the room, sit with your Missus then walk to the counter when her number is called?

The reason I ask is that I read a post by an Englishman which implied that they are not allowed into the actual waiting room.

Yep still has security on the door. no probs with myself entering and fronting at the counter with her once our number was called.
