The best option really!

Check the web site.

No more monthly fees & affordable I think!

200+ channels and great service

hi MP5,

just checked out jsat site,i am still a little confused. It seems to me that you get free only the tv programmes that are already free on a satalite to dish basis.

However if you want certain sports and movies ect. you have to subscribe to the current provider ie if you want to view the programmes that UBC provide, then you have to pay them for a card.

Could be wrong on this but its my interpretation. :o

Read at the bottom of this page, tell me what you think. :D

Does UBC have Thai subtitles on English movies etc?

That is the one thing that made PTV worth having as my wife could understand the english language movies a bit better.

Satellite is the only way to go. UBC is too expensive. Same as you would pay in the west. Really depends if you own a house or condo, or you are renting. I(f you and your wife own, then satellite is the way to go. If you are a renter tyhen staellite would not be practical. BTV is much better than Sophon cable.

MP5, That website is a little confusing.

It is just too busy, they need to simplify it a little.

As with StevieC I was left confused and ended up looking at the UBC website instead.

There is a new system where you have a large moveable dish and a smaller fixed dish that decodes the encrypted signals. With this you can watch Astro,Dream , Multi Choise Africa and i think the Indonesian Pay TV , plus all of the free to air channels without the need of any subscriber cards. Then to keep the Mrs. happy you just need a regular antenna ( about 1000 baht) for the thai free to air channels. Jsat and various other satellite shops can put this in for you.

agree, if you have a good moveable Dish, you second need a small one and a second TV, else you watch again all the time stupid thai soap operas.

My Mrs is an absolut dictator when it comes to TV.....

These posts raise some quite important dilemas we have to struggle through:-

Ideally the Tilac needs to be away in a room on her own watching "her" TV progs.

We off course have the larger TV in Air Con and much more comfortable furniture.

But, as we are drinking beer we must have constant refills! who gets this? as Tilac has been banished to the darkest recesses? Intercom? or internal phone? :D

Cheers :o

I guess you are lucky. Mine does not refill my beer and if the furniture is more comfortable, my wifes female body is covering it and asking if I can cook her some Austrian Schnitzel because she got so hungry from looking TV......

And if I can make her a coffee or bring her a soda.....

I have the strong feeling something is running very very wrong here.........

If you want American sports you want Dream sayellite TV out of the Pillipines. This is available from Dynasat, and I think Lsat has the same thing.

Barry

Yep USA TV sports on;

i. FOX SPORT NETWORK CH 1 - CH 8 on Panamsat 2 C band (NASCAR LIVE, PGA all raw live feeds ETC)

ii. CBS - AD HOC I feeds on Panamsat 2 C band

iii. ESPN Feeds - Panamsat 8 C band

iv. Sports Plus - Agila 2 Ku band - Dream network

v. RPN - Agila 2 Ku band - Dream network

vi. ESPN Asia (Telkom, Agila 2, Measat 1 - and UBC of course)

vii. ESPN 2 (Panamsat 7/10 college football, nfl the normal stuff on ESPN 2)

viii. BYU on Asiasat 2 (College football)

ix. Ex-MIL guy? I906 (we do lots of these for ex USMIL guys all over Thailand) ESPN 1 & 2 ( the real ones direct from the USA via AFRTS/AFN) MSNBC, FOX Sport etc

x. Planata Sport (Ice hockey) on Yamal 202

xi. VOA on Asiasat 2 or I904

and the list goes on and one.

Soccer a quick look at live matches;

1. EPL

2. ENG CHAMP

3. Spanish

4. Itialian

5. German

6. Brazilian

7. Limited Agentinian *

8. European Cup League

9. UEFA

10. FA Cup feed

11. Portaguese

12. African Cup

13. China League

14. Thai League

15. Philippines

16. World Cup Qualifiers (2006)

17. Swedish

18. Russian

19. Vietnam

20. Malaysian (limited matches)

21. Tiger Cup

22. Scottish league (Sentanta Sport)

Live club channels (content fillers)

1. ManU TV

2. Real Madrid

And so much more .....

The buzz is you buy a dish and all the kit that goes with it and either pay to subscribe to a network (you pay them not us) or pay for a box that does not need to subscribe to the networks (6th generation on from 'psst my mate has this card that sees sky/dish') and allows you to see "what you want when you want".

You buy it you own it - simple. No we do not charge monthly fees as we are NOT a cable TV provider.

Seasons greeting to all

Put a fridge and bar in YOUR tv room and get the Fillipino free to air, all the Star channels ect.

I was referred by a friend to JSAT TV and just rung them and they arrived and 33 near K Thb and a few days later!

All the channels to choose from!

No more monthly bills especially to UBC.

What's the cost to hook up UBC and monthly payments after that.

I know Sophon is much cheaper but the down time did become annoying sometimes.

Sounds great. In practice however it doesn't work out very satisfactorily. The satellite providers keep changing their encryption method for obvious reasons. So you can expect a month or so of TV watching before you get a few days or weeks of downtime. Then you need to pay for a service visit and a firmware upgrade to your present set top box--or even a new box! As we speak, the only people who are getting Asro/Dream on their Dynasat boxes are those who have installed the latest upgade, which just became available after a couple weeks of downtime: http://www.jsat.tv/upgrade.htm. Be prepared for frustration, downtime, and runarounds, esp. from jsat proper. If you can get by w/ Banglamung or Sophon, by all means do so. If you can afford UBC that would be best, though it ain't perfect either.
