My work permit ends at the end of April

My Non Imm B extension finishes end of April

From what I understand, I need my work permit renewed/extended, before I can get a second extension to my Non Imm B. Is this correct?

I fly out to NZ 17th of April, return 8th of May. I potentially might not be allowed onto the flight back to Thailand in May, if I don't have a visa right? (Or do they not mind if you have a recently expired visa? or if I show them my new contract? e.g. showing intention to get a new visa)

Between Songkran, the princess's funeral and weekends, I probably need my work permit + Non Imm renewed by around the 7th.

However, from what I understand, I can't renew my visa / work permit until it's within 1 month of expiry. Is this correct?

One of my work mates, has now mentioned that he recieved something about tax in the mail a few months ago (I haven't recieved anything, thus have no idea about anything), and he has said that we need to file a tax return before our next work permits will be issued. Is this correct?

Apparently, we need some form from our school stating our income? Is this correct? Or am I able to just fill in a form with a made up number, pay my tax and then not worry about providing them with "proof" of income unless they decide to audit me?

Anyway, if you are able to give me some advice on the above, particularly concerning tax, it would be most appreciated. As I don't know a huge amount about it all, but only have a short time to get my visa renewed etc, so don't want to waste too much time with incomplete submissions to immigration etc (Particularly as immigration is around a 2h drive, and the dept of labour a 1h drive in a different direction).

Also, no my school can't do it all for me. As my boss, who is the only Thai staff member who has even the slightest clue about immigration issues, is unfortunately going to America on Friday. I'm going to the immigration office on Friday to report in, so hopefully they can answer any extra questions then, however any additional documents I need from my school, can likely only be obtained tomorrow before my boss leaves, so any advice would be of great assistance.

Without reneal of the WP immigration ill not give you an extension. You can renew within 30 days of expiry.

The airline might not let you board if you don't have a visa.

You will need your income certified by the school and tax docuemnts to show you paid tax. Not sure if the labour office will also need the tax documents form the tax office, immigration does want them.

Don't try to fake any documents, for that you go to jail.

Anyone know for sure if I need the tax / income documents for renewing my work permit?

As even if I do need the tax/income documents for my visa, if I can do the work permit first it'd save me some time.

And does anyone have a link to where I can download tax forms etc? Also when does tax need to be paid by? (I assume that I can't file a tax return until after the 31st of March, as I think that's the taxable year right? How long will I have before penalties etc?)

Ok just checked with my boss and he has no idea about what tyhe document that we need. Is it just a letter saying how much our annual income is with a red stamp at the bottom? or is it a statement showing each month's earning / each source (overtime / regular salary etc)? Ideally, if someone can describe it, or could pm an old copy of one to me so I can show my school?

Likewise, if you have a link to the forms I need to complete, that would be awesome. Although I'm going to start searching online for them now, so can hopefully find them myself :)

Thailand Revenue Department - Deadline for filing is the end of this month (March). Working on mine now but waiting for the final pay statement. It can be done electronically on-line also. I have not had to supply proof of tax payment to the Labor Department for about 5 years now on renewing, previously I did.

I'm confused about this from Mario though - "Without reneal of the WP immigration ill not give you an extension." I can not get my work permit renewed until I get my extension from immigration and has been that way for many years. Perhaps he meant 'applying for new WP'?

What kind of business doesn't know what tax document is needed to pay taxes? It's the same form for everyone, nothing extra or special for foreigners

As already stated, due by end of March. Form 91. Someone at the Revenue Office can help you fill it out.

OP, do you even have a tax ID Number? If not, your employer hasn't been deducting any taxes, or at least not reporting it for you.

It's an easy process.

Yep no Tax ID number, they haven't been deducting any taxes from my salary. I'll check the website now and see if I can sign up for one online.

Likewise I'll check that site for the forms etc I need.

I think that they don't know much about paying tax, because staff there probably don't pay tax lol (Salary is always paid in cash, I assume this is for tax evasion + so that there's less of a paper trail to track corruption, but speculation on that won't help me with my visa / WP renewal lol)

Thanks heaps :) I'll post back here if I have further questions or can't find the forms etc I'm after.

Ok have most of the forms I need, I think.

However, to register for a tax number, since I'm farang so don't have an ID card number, do I need to goto the tax office in person? Or mail them something? or is there somewhere I can do it online? I couldn't find any information about it (Edit: Actually found some info on this now, have to goto the revenue office in my province)
