Bangkok.

I remember reading a topic where they submitted a TM8 application online saving some time when arriving the next day

Does anyone have the exact URL on Thai Immigration's website ? Or was it emailed, how to do this.

For a re-entry permit,if you are in Bangkok area and you have an Internet access, you could fill in a TM. 8 form and send it to [email protected] — You should e-mail the completed form 1 day in advance. — You have to submit a 2" photo and pay a permit fee at counter 7, the Immigration Bureau (soi suanplu office.) — Fee for re-entry permit:

1,000 Bahts for single

3,800 Bahts for multiple

How strict is Thai Immigration about issuing re-entry permits on days besides Saturdays ? Would possibly be able to send email of TM8 on Monday and go in on Tuesday ?

Weekdays is no problem, that is why the mail in sevice is there. Indeed send in on Monday and pick-up at Tuesday. Don't forget to bring a photo!

So you do not need to go to Chaengwattana to get a Re-Entry Permit? Can I do this in person at Suan Plu?

Unfortunately, I just found out one hour ago that I must travel to Manila on Wednesday next week so I only have Tuesday to get it. I assume that as tomorrow and Monday are holidays, sending in the application in by email in advance will not really help. If such is the case, I suppose I will just have to traipse out to CW on Tuesday. I don't mind sitting around for an hour or so, but I would rather not need to spend half a day there.

Let's hope that it won't take you half a day on Tuesday, but it well might.

Sudden trips can happen, and they can happen at inconvenient times. That's why many (most?) of us purchase a single re-entry stamp at the same time we extend for another year. It's a gamble but well worth 1,000 baht.

Yeah, in more than 10 years I have never had to travel at the last minute. So I stopped bothering getting them when I extended my visa. And Tuesday is probably going to be packed and I am probably going to end up working over Songkran. Bit of a bummer as I was looking forward to the break.

If you travel between 06:00 and 24:00 hours you can get one at the airport, after checking in for your flight and having recieved the boarding pass.

Getting one from a regular immigration office is the best, the airport is a last resort.
