Industry Minister boasts success of road show in Korea

BANGKOK, 27 March 2012 (NNT) - Industry Minister MR Pongsawat Svastiwat said that the road show in South Korea, organized by the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI), has received good feedback from Korean investors.

According to MR Pongsawat, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has met and discussed trade and investment with several Korean business giants during her four-day road show in the country. He said the investors showed their intentions to maintain and expand their businesses in Thailand.

The Industry Minister added that companies like Samsumg Electronics and LG Electronics agreed to expand their investments in air conditioner production. Moreover, other entrepreneurs also showed their interest in investing in Thailand’s high-speed rail system.

Speed cameras, booze buses in Phuket for Songkran

PHUKET: -- Speed cameras are expected to be installed across Phuket in time for the Thai New Year Songkran festival next month, and nightlife venue operators will be asked to provide transportation home for drunken patrons.

Blaze rocks a firework factory in Saraburi

SARABURI:-- Local residents living near a firework factory in Saraburi's Kaeng Khoi district on Tuesday were forced to evacuate after explosions erupted at the factory but there is no reports of injuries and casualties.

More than 20 fire trucks rushed to the scene to contain the blaze, which caught one of four buildings in the Pacific Pyro Co Ltd compound.

The blasts occurred at 7.20 pm and was initially theorised by police as being an accident. The explosions resulted in fires catching two of five warehouses, and later two of the four buildings, located in the 50rai compound.
