It wouldn't surprise me if Trump is following that old Samuel Huntington scenario of a future where the three hedgemons (US, China, Russia) carve up the world into their sphere of influence. In other words, Trump, Xi and Putin might already have a secret three-way deal. Think about recent developments and claims by Trump. He's hostile to NATO and threatened to pull out. He wants Canada and Greenland in 'his sphere', and is not planning to come to the aid of Taiwan (when) China makes its move. He makes no promises to Europe and seems to hate and threaten all of the countries in the EU (because that will be Putin's sphere), and Russia is re-arming at an alarmign pace, with the German Defence Minister publicly stating German intelligence thinks a Russia attack on NATO countries could happen within the next couple of years. Meantime, Trump has cooled to India and Australia as they will be up to China to deal with. Would Trump come to Australia's aid if he won't come to NATO's aid in the event of a Russian attack? Japan and South Korea's leadership will be very aware of their increasing vulnerability to Trump's non commital attitude. He's also indifferent to Africa (shut down USAID) and so China can have it. Trump and future administrations will continue to consider South America as 'theirs'. I think Trump is a greater threat to Canada than many realize - so not just bufoonery but a real threat. CIA/NSA already operating in Alberta and Quebec to help disintegrate from within?
