Golfer'S/Tennis Elbow

Featured Replies

A bit of a shot in the dark but does anyone know where I can go to get golfer's elbow looked at? I've been to a physiotherapist before near computer plaza but I didn't really rate the treatment.

The only other option I can think of is the hospital which will no doubt, cost me a lot of money.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Those can take a long time to heal. Sometimes a shot of cortisone can speed things along. Check out Dr. Suthee on the recommended dr. thread above; he has an evening clinic on the super highway.

Having suffered this complaint on a few occasions it is imperative that you give the elbow rest, preferably in a sling .I had swelling, on the last 2 occasions, size of a golf ball and Dr Morgan at Hang Dong Clinic removed about 25 cc of fluid each time plus I needed medication but you may not have swelling. It may re occur ,or like mine, not come back, for now anyway.

Treatment with Dr Morgan is not expensive.

I had the problem with both elbows years ago. Tried the cortisone shots, but began having to have them more and more frequently - and apparently the cortisone isn't very good for you. Rest works, but not always possible. I wound up having the simple outpatient surgery where they clip the offending ligament. Quick, easy, inexpensive. One of those things where once I had it done, I kicked myself for not having it done long before.

I can't give a specific recommendation of a place to get it treated here, but can give a suggestion as to how to alleviate tennis elbow (not the same as golfer's elbow) if that is the one which you're suffering from. I used to play a lot of tennis and found that using a slighter thicker grip than usual helped significantly (I'm assuming you got it from playing tennis, though I know it's not the only cause!). Good luck!

Similar problem from golf as did a friend.

The senior ladies at the massage shop Big C ground floor on Hang Dong road fixed both of us in a couple of visits. They are smart enough to check first to see if it something can be done by deep tissue massage and if it is not possible will tell you to go to your local quack-check them out first.

I have used and recommended them on numerous occasions,A1!

I had it treated at the Sripat Clinic at Maharaj Hospital. Injections (cortisone, I think). The doctor said something like, 60% the first injection works, 40% the second, 20% the third... if it still hasn't gone, you need an operation. Rest, yes, of course, but that is unlikely to get rid of it.

Rest is vital.

I had this last year out of the blue. I do play golf occasionally but I think it may have been related to a lot of miles on a new motorbike (new position, clutch use, repetitive actions) or lifting in the gym. I was going to go to the doctor after it initially got worse but it slowly faded and after about 4 months all symptoms had disappeared.

  • 3 weeks later...

Interesting, one of my "friends" gained this injury from playing squash. Must be common in all racket sports.

I haven't played against him since. I don't know if this is because of his "Golfers elbow" or the 4-0 defeat he got......
