I have a 10m x 10m area that i would like to use for a pool. My questions are is it big enough? What would be the ideal size pool? I am thinking either 8x4 or 8x3 with a L shape extending to 5m.....

thanks in advance

Yes, this is sufficient space for a pool. Generally, you would want a meter "free ground" around the pool for a walkway, maybe landscaping etc. We just completed a pool 2.5m wide at one end, 12 meter long, and 5m wide at the other deep end (L shaped). We snugged it right up alongside the property's perimter wall, with about .80cm clearance for plants, landscaping, etc.

One consideration is access! If you cannot get a backhoe on site, carting all that sand away could prove quite expensive!

Another point is how close to other buildings would this pool be? I don't think I'd want the deep end right up to my house unless it was well reinforced!

I dont think removing the dirt will be a issue as the pool will be near the road... The wall can come down or the backhoe could go over if it is large enough.......Pleanty of space from the hous so also a non-issue.....thanks

Well the company that quoted me in november came back this afternoon and the price went up substatiatly. I am now in the process of getting new quotes...I have decided on a kidney shape 7.5X3-4m about <30sqm....

Do you mind posting the prices?

Yes i will after i sign a contract. I will say that the better known companies seem to be cheaper then the freelancers........

Easier for them to keep costs down due to volume..

But no one can know and thus advise if your prices are high or not before you sign a contract, once done it's a bit late isn't it?
