Rheumatologist

Not sure if this is the correct field of medicine.

I looked on the pinned list and it had Rheumatologist listed for joint and muscle pains but no recommendations.

I strained the right side of my groin about a month ago and the x ray showed no bone damage. But I still have pain there and some time it is in the whole groin area. I admit it is a lot less painfully than originally but it seems to be quite a bit considering it has been a month and I have really cut back on my activity.

You don't say how you 'strained' the right side of your groin, i.e. lifting, stretching, falling etc.

As it appears to be the result of something you did..."I strained the right side of my groin about a month ago".....then it's highly unlikely that you need a rheumatologist who would be primarily concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of ongoing rheumatic diseases. It sounds like a pulled or strained muscle which can take some time to recover.....look at some soccer players they are out of action for weeks with groin strains, which often need surgery.

Who ordered the x-ray?

Didn't anyone at the hospital recommend a follow up with an appropriate doctor?

Why not ask someone like Dr. Morgan what she thinks and she can refer you to the most appropriate person (IHO).

I keep hoping it will go away. I will see Dr. Morgan next week. She was the one who ordered the x ray. I slipped getting out of the tub with my right leg on the edge of the tub and the rest of me on the floor.

As I said I looked at the pinned list and Rheumatologist seemed to be the only one to address this sort of thing.

It looks like Chiang Mai could use a Rheumatologist as well as a Dietician.

Kinda like being back in Canada where to see a Rheumatologist you go on a six month waiting list for a 20 minute appointment.

I suspect Bangkok is the only place in Thailand one could get full medical coverage.

Well after ruling out any fractures, didn't anyone give you any advice regarding step B?

I don't understand why you want a rheumatologist, this is not a chronic rheumatic condition it more of an acute condition, a strain, tear, pulled muscle etc, which might get better with rest. Don't keephoping it will go away, you could be aggravating whatever's wrong. Why don't you bring your app't with Dr. Morgan forward if it's bothering you a lot....she will fit you in.

PS. However, I do agree, it would be nice to have some recommendations for a rheumatic specialist.

I went for that because it was the only thing on the pinned lit that looked like it would cover it.

Would be nice if they could open the list up again for the subjects that had no recommendations. It seems strange that a city as big as Chiang Mai would not have a rheumatic specialist or a dietician plus there was a few other areas with no recommendation.

As I said it has been feeling better and I will defiantly talk to her again about it.

It's funny to look back on it but some of the worst pain I have felt in 15 years is when they tried to move me in to special positions on the x ray table. The last time I felt pain like that ws when they took x rays of my broken back.
