Is it safe to get on night bus at 2 AM ( or 3 AM, or 4 AM ) in Bangkok ?

What's your experience ?

Although I've not taken a bus here in years, the fact that many Thai women actually prefer the buses to taxis late at night is a pretty good indication.

Is the main reason for Thai women getting on a bus saving money as night bus is much cheaper than taxi ?

I don't think it's safe, every time I try to climb the steps I fall flat on my face, scramble up a but, fall back down, stagger, roll about, then collapse in a heap. It must be all that cider.

My missus and most of her mates have plenty of brass but if they are travelling alone late at night all take the bus.

Get a taxi, or limo even, don't worry about the cost, it will be cheaper than your sanity.........

If you can't avoid it and you/he happens to stumble across each other, avoid eye contact. If he has balloons depart the vehicle as rapidly as is safe to do so.....

I believe the main reason they take the bus is that they are a lot less likely to get raped / sexually assaulted / mugged on the bus.
