Christmas Day Plans

Hiya!

It's our first Christmas in Bangkok and I'm just wondering if anyone has a good suggestion as to where's good to go on the 25th for some crimbo grub?

I'm more of a 'reader' than a 'poster' generally but thought some of you seasoned Bangers might have some decent suggestions. :o

Any ideas very much appreciated,

Laura

A friend told me about a place I think in Silom district he went last year and had the time of his life. Full western Chrimbo dinner and all.

I'll mail him see if I can't find out exactly where.

I will be in England.

I will also be doing all the food. (which I quite look forward to-I know weird)

For a starter I ordered a Pork and poultry pie with some nice bits of fruit. For main I will be cooking Goose, Turkey and a small cut of silverside beef. All the veggies and whatever else I can manage to do. All followed with the obligatory cheese board.

Then a slow decline into an alcohol and food induced sleep..... :o

Wicked. Oh and Merry Christmas. :D

Don't have any plans for the holiday since my wife will be in Phuket for the tsunami ceremony (she's a finance officer on the project). But after that, an MP and his wife are taking my wife and I camping up in Petchabun.

As for good eats in Bangkok.... ugh... you're not going to find decent Western holiday food in this city unless you go to one of the 5-star hotels and pay through the nose. The Great American Rib restaurant (I think that's the name) on Sukhumvit is your best bet. Otherwise, just go to Oishi. They have the best buffet in the city and who knows, maybe they'll throw some turkey out there just for the holiday. A guy can dream, can't he?

I will be having a Christmas lunch party at my place on Christmas Day. From ThaiVisa The Moog and Butterfly will be coming. Roast Turkey, crackers and wine and then we will go to Vertigo for sunset cocktails. After that we will send the women home before retreating to Long Gun.

Is the People's Champ (Gentleman Scamp) coming? Did he reply to your invitation?

If he is, we can go to Farose, where I hear the nud_e dancefloor is as pure as the driven slush this Christmas, given the gelato spermatozoa spilled.

No but lets go to Farose anyway - the Butterfly has been frequenting Katoey bar recently in the company of two seedy Turks so I am sure he would be game.

What lies behind the white beard, the 'Ho Ho Ho' and the 'Have I got a surprise for you'

....A big hairy todger.

<So Scampy really is working as Santa Claus in Pattaya>

That'd be fab if you could! We looking for an traditional western feed with a mixed crowd and a lively atmosphere. Sounds like just the place!

I will be going to the beach (if the sun ever comes out)

Then I will be drinking, drinking and drinking, followed by a Traditional Christmas dinner in Samui, followed by more drinking and a big party with lots of close friends.

This will probably be a trend throughout Christmas week! Quite looking forward to it although I dont feel very Christmassy at all, this weather does help. But im sure I will get more into the spirit of things on the day :o

Just got this reply from a pal in Bkk, hope it may guide some of you well.

"Last year went to Bobbys on Silom Soi 4. Yeah it's the gay soi but this place couldn't be any less gay, old mans pub with proper pint pots and a big screen for the footy.

This year I think i'm going to the bulls head on sukhumvit".

im flying up to bkk on friday to catch up with my friends who i miss so much living in the south. 3 months without them seems like forever.

im planning on NOT eating gaeng som, NOT eating rice, and NOT wearing flip flops!

what i AM planning on doing is drinking wine (may just see you at Kuppa, Cpt_M0ney_Sh0t), eating anything BUT the above and talking and gossiping about who's doing who in the land of smiles and the rest of the world.

but above all, im planning on being happy and enjoying every minute i have with my friends.

merry christmas and a very happy new year everyone. i hope that 2006 is a great year for all of us.
