Are 37" Hdtv'S Available In Los?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just doing some shopping inquiries at The Mall it seemed that 37" would be the best size for me. I know that they make them here, but found none. I asked - in my broken Thai - and 2 different salesmen said, "not in Thailand".

Does anyone have any knowledge about this?

Thanks!

samsung makes a 37.

Now for the 'rest of the story'.

It was at the Samsung shop in The Mall that one of the guys said they didn't sell 37" models. But this is where I realized they did indeed manufacture them - as they are in the Samsung Series 5 manual. They did have 32" & 41" models for sale.

I am just learning about flat panel TVs, after my computer was stolen. I still have my laptop, and wanted to get a big TV to use as a monitor - to avoid owning 2 computers.

I quickly looked for a 37" in each of the many other shops in the same area - I think it was in the Power Buy group of shops. It looked like all the major TV companies are represented there.

So, I asked a second salesman about 37" TVs and he said, as near as I could figure, that Thailand doesn't sell them.

I never believe salespeople here when they give me an 'expert opinion'. However, I did a quick web search, and nothing jumped out at me - other than companies outside of Thailand.

Still inquiring.

Thanks!

I have never seen a 37" displayed as far as I remember, and I have seen a lot of flatscreens, however a quick search showed that there are actually 14 models available in Thailand and all are HD.

Thanks pipo1000,

I navigated the link you sent, and it appears that many sizes are made. Availability is another issue.

Next I have to find which is suitable for use as a computer monitor. I already know 1080p resolution is necessary. I need to research more about LCD & LED, et al, then find a store that carries the model.

Not reading much Thai, I didn't see any links to retailers. When I decide on a brand & model, I could always call their main office for dealers.

Thanks again!

All models shown are available in Thailand, and if you walk into a genuine dealership of the model you want to buy, they will be able to order it for you or you can call the main office and they willadvise you.

Also if you enter a model number and add Thailand in google you will sure find a number of results from dealers who have that type in stock.

The prices on the website are the advised retail prices as set by the respective manufacturer,so if lucky you can get a discount on those.

If you could switch to 40" or 42" then there are at the moment nummerous promotions in 1080p lcd and led available everywhere, starting from 15000 Baht or even below.

I'll sell you my 40 inch FULL-HD LED, send me a message if interested.

Why does it have to be 37 in. Plenty of 40 in models which are almost the same size.

Thanks all, and especially pipo1000 for your responses.

A 32" is just too small, as I sit quite a distance from my computer (when possible). On the other hand 40"+ seem like overkill. That's why I wanted something in between.

If the prices of the larger ones are better than the ones in the 37" range, I'll consider buying the larger. But not 2nd hand. Haven't even figured out what make or model - LCD or LED or Plasma would be best for a computer monitor. I need to research that.

I just knew I had to come to Thaivisa for more expert advice when I was misinformed by sales people as to availability regarding TV sizes. This kind of thing happened so many times in my years here. I just don't believe people when they say they have or don't have something. They don't know their own stores (3 times on different matters so far this week). It ain't like going to HomePro where the employees often have a vested interested (stock holdings) in their company. But I would be a fool to expect that as this is Thailand, and that's OK - just requires occasional (daily?) readjustment.

Thanks again. That should do it! It's on me now.

LED is the best choice now, personally I'm looking to replace my LCD with an OLED which from the reviews I have read is better, but I don't know how much better the picture quality is over LED, it's certainly thinner and uses less juice though

From the CES 2012 TV showing, can see demos on YouTube, they appear to be remarkable. However, larger ones - specifically 55" will not be available until near the end of the year at around $8000.00 USD. Both Samsung & LG are planning releases then and no telling when available in Thailand. Not sure when intermediate sizes will be released.

Sinsiamelectronics show the following 37" HD models.

37" LG

37" Samsung

Hi,

I visited sinsiamelectronics website and saw 37" Samsung models.

However, I called them, and they said that they only have 32 & 40" models, and the other ones on their site were old models.

Inquiring about OLED TVs, they said they weren't available yet, and would only be available in big and huge sizes.

So, I guess it's back to square one. I guess my only option is the 32" - a little small for my needs. The 40" is way too big ( I want something relatively portable) and not something I'm considering buying.

Thanks anyhow!

Just watched an add on True satellite and they are offering a free 32" - 37" plasma with one of their promotional packages right now.

Edit: Think it is one of the 3G related ones.
