Hello

I am only asking as I genuinely dont understand.

I have been toying with the idea of moving to CM for years. At some point I probably will. I have lived in Thailand for close to 10 years and CM is still my favourate place having been there a few times. I just love the place.

Whats the beef with the whole air thing though? Silly question probably and its one that I could research but figure local feedback would be quicker and better informed. I have never seen any 'fog' so to speak in CM and what is the deal regarding fires etc? There are a few posts running currently with local ex-pats talking about locals seemingly burning multiple areas. For example one poster mentions he could not see the mountains for a few days owing to fog/smog and eludes to "locals and there matches"

What is it they are burning? And like...Why? And how often does this happen? And is it a genuine drama or much ado about nothing? I mean like... What impact does it have on the day to day life an ex-pat who lives there?

Again, only asking as I dont follow what the issue is. Was hoping someone could educate me?

Seeing how you posted your Chiang Mai question in the Chiang Rai forum, one gets the impression that no amount of explaining could possibly educate you. If reading the numerous threads with details and statistics oozing from every post is too vague then I am at a loss. If you are a three pack a day smoker then our little pollution problems won't really affect you.rolleyes.gif

One gets the impression you could benefit from a beer mate. Get of your high horse and relax a little - Thailand, in my opinion, has way too many 'ferang Snobs' and you seem to fit the mold very well. Honestly, the keyboard warrior mentality of many posters on TV bewilders me at times. A guy posts in the incorrect forum and he is immediatley accused of having low inteligence.

Seriously. Why bother even replying to my post in the first place? What a misserable, pathetic waste of your time but the again, if you live in Chiang Rai (possibly the most boring, uninspiring place I have ever been to in Thailand) then I guess you have noting better to do than post childish replies to genuine posters. Enjoy CR. Im sure you fit in very well indeed.

You're toying with the idea of moving to CM, you know the burning problem exists and you know of the existence of discussions in this forum (which are written by locals) as to the cause et al. But you don't want to read the threads to understand the "burning problem" better, instead you want a personalised summary from a local ex-pat. How often does the problem happen and is it real or is it much ado about nothing you ask, you've actually managed to gain zero knowledge on the subject. I'm sorry but the previous poster is, like, not that far adrift with his comments!
