Leo Beer

Featured Replies

why do so few local beers have THAT flavor?

not even Heineken has it

is it hops?

or a combo?

leo seems to have that rare delightful BEER flavor drunk.gif

what comprises a commercial beer recepie

i understand few commercial beers steer far from it

has the recipe or ingredients changed in the last few years

any recommendations for other beers?

Indeed. I'll drink to that!

Recommendations for other beers? Beer Lao is a beer I will take any day. Same as Angkor (dark beer) stout. Unfortunately, I have to cross the border for those beers.

Well not always: Sometimes Leo is good, sometimes it is bad. Seems they can't control the quality.

along with THAT flavor it's a bit on the sweet side

I personally preffer Heinekeen over Leo, usually feall much better the next day.

I cant wait for Tsingtao Beer to open up their Bangkok factory in 2013.

Not a great pilsner/lager fan, but Tsingtao Beer slides down very nicely indeed, IMO

Dark Beer Lao runs it a close second, though

You meant that fruit-flavor?

It doesn't have that all the time. Only sometimes. I think it isn't intended.

I regret that I wrote "Sometimes Leo is good". I meant: Sometimes it isn't as bad as the others.

It's me fave over here.

Beer Lao when I cross over.

it is certainly a fav with the thais

and suitably priced

all i can say is

the after taste of a REAL beer flavor

it is like a gift that keeps on giving

i dont get it from the other local beers

i suspect it is hops (or malt, <deleted> do i know)

a home brewer might know

Sorry but Leo is like 2% alcohol and 98% cat urine!

Stick with good old poison Chang! 6.8%..............merry merry, you can't get pissed on Leo you will chuck your guts first

Anyone here tried that vile tiple "Archer"? What a foul brew - probably made from mangoes and socks!

If you think you can drink 3:1 Leo's regarding getting drunk, you are way off.

I have no comment re the cat pee though.

I don't understand why anyone would want to drink it, it is 1/3rd of the strength of Chang, it costs considerably more and it tastes disgusting - a bit like the Heineken here - cat piss!

The locals around my place get out of their merry little skulls on 20 Bahts worth of Lao Kao - why would they ever consider spending almost 50 Baht on that rubbish! - Two bottles is almost a days wages, and they could still manage to drive home.

Might be good with all the breathalyzers in Thailand now, drink with your mates and end up home in the right bed!
