Need some advice on what the best visa option is for me based on others experiences.

My situation, 25 years old with Thai fiancee or 3 years who is aged 24. Australian citizen, working 6-7 months in AUS spending 10 days of my working months flying to Thailand on my break from work. Spending the other 5-6 months living in Thailand not working or conducting any business in Thailand other than renting a condo owning car/motorbike etc.

What is my best option for visas as i will be spending alot of time in Thailand and will be using it as my base (living in Thailand) ?

Non Imm O i understand I will have to be married first also.

Tourist Visa runs every 3 months are they actually a good idea? as is there a limit o these types of visas?

Ed visa ?

Id like to find an option that will not run me out of thailand eventually by using too many different types of visas or tourist visas.

Others experiences with the same situation welcome.

Regards, Shaktam

You should be fine with double entry Tourist Visa's (gives you 6 months with a border run) as you won't be using them consecutively so I don't think it will be a problem at all.

Great thanks, do i have to cross border by land or air for the re-entry? do I have to show air ticket for this re-entry to obtain visa?

At 90 days you would have to depart/return for next tourist visa entry.

During Oz working months you can just use visa exempt entry to cover the 10 day stays.

If you are here for less than 6 months, then the double entry tourist visa will work fine

There a three small quirks for you

After the first 60 days, you will need to go to immigration to extend for 30 days - extra cost of 1900

Just before the first extension expires you will need to do a visa run, many companies provide this for a 1900 - 2100 - all inclusive transpo/visa

This will activate the 2nd entry

When you go on the visa run, you do not need to show any flight details or bank balance

You can then extend the 2nd entry for another 30 days at immigration - extra cost is 1900

Okay sure, I think I may have phrased the last part abit wrong. When I apply for the Visa in AUS they are asking for a airline ticket for my second entry to thailand, does this mean I have to purchase a ticket from say KL/Penang to BKK and throw it away just to get the visa as I will use the cambodia visa run service instead of flying? or can I pretend my first entry Air ticket is actually my second entry?

They only ask for the second entry air ticket which is abit strange as I thought they would like to see both entries first and second. Also it seems a little silly asking for an air ticket when most people would use the border run service.

It might be easier using Brisbane by mail if that is not the place your dealing with now as such Consulates are often easier to deal with.
