Dear members

It's visa time again and I need some advice from the good people here on Thai visa.

My wife imigration record is as follows :

3 visitors visas 2004 -2006

Fiancée visa 2006 -2008

Spouse visa 2008-2010

Flr(m) extension because she didn't pass life in uk test 2010 - 2012

Therefore she has technically been resident in the uk for over 5 years so my question is can she apply for a uk passport or does she have to still do the ILR option.

Thanks in advance for any advice

One of the qualifications for naturalisation as British is that the applicant has no time limit on their stay in the UK; i.e. ILR or the equivalent.

So she needs to obtain ILR before she can apply for citizenship.

If she meets the residential requirement, basically has been in the UK for at least 3 years regardless of the type of visa, then she can apply for citizenship immediately she is granted ILR if she wishes.

See Requirements for naturalisation if you are married to or the civil partner of a British citizen.
