Are True Phones Locked?

I recently purchased a phone from True, and signed up to an 18 month contract. I want to use it on a trip to the UK for local calls and, to avoid roaming charges, want to use my UK sim.

Does anyone know if True phones are locked? if so I will just buy a cheapo phone from Lotus.

I did ask True, but they either didn't know or, more likely, didn't understand me.

There are no locked mobile phones used in Thailand.

    I believe it not legal to sell a locked phone in Thailand. Any they get unlocked quickly and cheaply anyway maybe that why it never done.
