Porn picture appears during session

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- While parliamentary lawmakers were hotly debating the charter amendment bill, a porn picture popped up on a projection screen.

During the meeting, Bhum Jai Thai MP Sanong Thepaksornnarong alerted Parliament President Somsak Kiartsuranon to a scene of girls in bikinis striking sexy poses that had accidentally appeared on the screen.

The picture was shown for five seconds then blacked out and redisplayed three times.

Somsak said that the intrusion may have come from the outside and that Parliament still didn't have a security system in place to prevent this kind of attack.

However, opposition MP Warong Dejkitwikrom called for Somsak to get to the bottom of the case before closing it.

Somsak said he would set up a committee to investigate.

If, in fact it was "beamed in" from outside as the 'official" stated to the speaker, then it is a serious security breach. Odd that the newspaper wouldn't zero in on this aspect of the problem, but merely states that it happened and things proceeded after a brief shutdown. As other posters stated, "where's the beef?"

"...the picture signal was beamed in from outside parliament by hackers." Those were some phasers, Scotty. Call parliament to arms. We'll need our best deflection suits to resist the pornographic tractor beams.

So parliamnet doesn't have the necessary technology in place to prevent hackers getting into their equipment?

Probably some old slappers left over from Newins Songkran thrash, and Newin out of the goodness of his heart decided to share the experiences his audience had at his party.clap2.gif

There is of course the possibility though it was a gynecologist who is also an M.P. ''boning up'' on his anatomy studiescheesy.gif

If from the outside it would have been on all screens, or on the main screen and not a side screen, this was obviously someone in the control centre who whilst watching the porn movie, accidentally hit a button whilst exercising his wrist muscles and arm muscles.

This is Thailand remember.

A face saving answer has been given which will not stand up to scrutiny. The not so free press will probably tow the line and not question this 'official' explanation.

.

4 of the 5 Thai politicos in the pic appear to be sound asleep. clap2.gif

They are probably the ones they couldn't wake up - the rest are all crowded behind the camera facing the screen. I think mummy will have to have strong words with them when she gets back from China.

It appears to me that these images are running from the PC giving the presentation; I've seen this sort of thing many times, when someone's PC is set to run a slideshow of photos as a screen saver... a few minutes of inactivity with mouse/ keyboard during the presentation and voila, your personal photos are displayed for all and sundry!

As others have said, if these images have been "beamed" in from outside, then that constitutes a severe security risk rather than an embarrassing cock up. If someone can hack in and broadcast files then they can also copy files.

To then state that they have no security system to prevent this kind of attack, is both an open invitation to all hackers and a clear indication that they are totally inept with technology.

Personally I think they should run a porn slideshow in the background of all parliamentary sessions, would make the whole soap opera infinitely more interesting...

I've seen it happen too when the speaker talks for an inordinate length of time about one subject, but this is the Thai parliament, what are the chances of that happening.

Of course they will have to allocate at least 100 million Baht for the investigation. Then another 100 million to purchase anti-hacking sw. Then another 100 million for the vendor to install the sw.

No, the whole thing is ridiculous. I was mocking the language they use in the article. It's all just operatic rhetorical nonsense. It plays into fear and gets incompetent staff/MP's off the hook for an obvious slip-up.

RT @Aim_NT: MP Prasit Chaisisa asks House Speaker to probe into member of Parliament watching nude pictures.

Red Shirt Leader / Pheu Thai Party MP Prasit might know a thing or two about that.

Additionally, an appeal in his name *as captured by the bogus email site*:

PRASIT CHAISISA CHAMBERS

Q.House Lumpini, 28th Floor

1 South Sathorn Road, Tungmahamek

Sathorn, Thailand,Bangkok 10120

FROM THE DESK OF: BARRISTER PRASIT CHAISISA CHAMBERS (ESQ)

I am Barrister Prasit Chaisisa Personal Attorney to Mr. Richard Burson and his lovely wife Ms.Lenor Burson who died on the 2nd November 1999 in an Egyptian airline 990 with other passengers on board all passengers unfortunately lost their lives (May their soul rest in perfect peace) since then I have made several enquiries to locate any of my client’s extended relatives but this proved unsuccessful.

After all these several unsuccessful attempts, since it's not compulsory that the next-of-kin must be a blood relation to the deceased, hence I contacted you because you are from the same country with my late client, Be informed that a next-of-kin can be anybody, friends or organization.

Presently, the Bank where the deceased (my client) had a Deposit valued at US$10, 500,000.00 Million issued me a notice to provide the next-of-kin to my Client to receive its benefit or have the account confiscated, so I have contacted you to assist me in repatriating this benefit left behind by my client Before they get confiscated or declared unserviceable by the Bank.

To this effect, I now seek your consent to present you to the Bank as the next of kin of the deceased (my Client) so that the proceeds of this Deposit valued at US$10,500,000.00 Million.

etc etc etc

Porn Picture During Parliamentary Session Makes a Splash on World Media

BANGKOK: -- A pornographic picture appearied on a giant plasma screen during the House meeting yesterday has caught the media's attention worldwide, including BBC and AFP news.

A committee will be set to seriously investigate the issue.

A picture of a half-naked woman popping up on a projection screen during the House meeting yesterday has caught the media's attention worldwide, including BBC and AFP news.

The picture popped up and lasted for ten seconds, while parliamentary lawmakers were hotly debating the charter amendment bill.

Bhum Jai Thai MP Sanong Thepaksornnarong has alerted the Parliament president to a scene of a porn picture that had accidentally appeared on the screen, and asked the Parliament staff to quickly turn off the monitor.

Parliament President Somsak Kiartsuranon has clarified that the intrusion may have come from the outside, as the Parliament does not have a security system in place to prevent this kind of attack, and that the equipment to block such intrusions was still under procurement.

Meanwhile, Samut Songkhram Democrat MP Rangsima Rodrasami asked to set up a committee to investigate, as this issue should not have happened during the House meeting. She suspected the error was caused by the control unit.

However, she enjoined that the committee must be quickly set up to seriously investigate about this issue, as it could affect the image of Parliament and the legislature's confidence.

One suspect is a democrat MP according to this link......rolleyes.gif

http://asiancorrespo...hai-parliament/

Of course the PTP will try to blame a Dem for this S.O.P.

If anything it was a setup to embarrass him.

No doubt the poor girl in the picture, will be identified, tracked down, and probed deeply,

for information like her phone number, days off, and what her Mia noi rates might be.

No real evidence of that... but given the Andrew Spooner source, it's not surprising.

Probably best wait for an official conclusion on the evidence before following your usual approach of attacking the messenger.

At this stage frankly it really just looks like someone's cock up - to use a slightly inappropriate expression - rather than being of any political significance one way or the other.
