Dr. Tanewat Vaseenon

Featured Replies

Does anyone have direct experience with this orthopaedic doctor?

Dr. Paiboon at Ram who I've known for ages, told me yesterday that he is the only real foot specialist, in Chiang Mai, which has been ongoing since 2005. He said he refers complicated orthopaedic foot problems to him, rather than tackle them himself. This in itself seems a good recommendation, but I would like to hear of any personal experiences too, please

He's young and his credentials seem good - at 36 he's probably got a steady hand. biggrin.png

Dr Preecha was mentioned in the medical thread. I've seen Dr Preecha before and he assures me his area of expertise are hands.

Sawasdee Khrup, Khun UpTheos,

If Dr. Paiboon recommends him, I'd trust him !

Was wondering if his expertize extends to knees

There was someone on the forum who had total knee replacement, I think by Dr Paiboon.

I can't recall his name but if he reads this thread or someone else knows maybe they will give you the info.

At the last I heard the guy was doing very well.

Dr Chanakarn who is listed in the pinned medical topic, is a bit of a whiz in sports injuries and does knees, hips etc.

Good luck with your search.

Chiang Mai is truly blessed with several competent orthopaedists. For something very complex, you might wish to check someone out in Bangkok (for a price!), certainly not further away than that. Second opinions are always advisable, but in most cases, you can get that here in lovely Chiang Mai.

For routine hips and knees, there are lots of surgeons capable in Chiang Mai. Then, there are specialists with sports injury expertise or with hand and foot fetishes, apparently. I'd vouch for those mentioned above!

Seems to me there was a thread on here about knee replacements and the conciseness was to go to Bangkok where they were able to measure every thing with a laser.

Apparently with out the use of one there are cases where it just caused more problems.

Of course the price in Bangkok was almost double.

I'm not convinced that going to Bangkok necessarily produces better results for twice the price. I know of a knee replacement and two hip replacements done in Chiangmai and the guys are using the gym with no problems..

Was wondering if his expertize extends to knees

Dr. Tanawat, when I specifically asked him, told me he specialized in feet and does not operate on knees.

So far I have only consultations with him so I have no other information.

Thanks noise, good to hear from the 'horses mouth' that he specialises in feet, as I'm seeing him this afternoon.

Had my first consultation with him this afternoon. I found him to be a pleasant young man and methodical in his approach, taking one step at a time. He took the time to draw diagrams etc, and I didn't get the feeling that I was being rushed. Open to any questions at the end. It's just the first consultation, which might end with surgery, but there are one or two things to try first and I'm fairly confident that I'm seeing the right person to sort out the problem (so far).
