Need Some Help

Featured Replies

Hey guys! not sure whether to post in the CM forum or the bike forum... but I'm living in Chiang Mai now and was wondering if any of you know were I could pick a more retro style motorcycle? preferably less then 30,000 baht... any of you have one for sale or know of any?

If i can't find one I'll prob just pick up a wave or something like that (what i drove last year)

thanks!

Nick C

Like a bigger bike, or you mean like a somewhat retro looking scooter? Or an actually older, restored Honda Super Cub (50/70)? I like those.

Or you mean something modern, but somewhat retro styled? Like this:

Or something (just) a little bigger?

Tbh your 30k might get you the wheels of a Triumph bonneville! :P

Seriously though for the bikes you mentioned (unless you are hunting out something thats say a carcass to fix up), you are going to need a much bigger budget.

Dont mean to be off putting.

HOWEVER, if you dont ask, you dont get eh, so i do wish you good luck for finding one at a bargain!! biggrin.png

Check out thaivisa classifieds, GT Rider, bahtsold and citylife classifieds. Sorry couldnt be of more help.

Years ago i remember that i came across something that would look like a chopper made in China, it was new and i believe the place i saw it was a Big C in BKK, price tag 39.000.

It would probably fell apart not too long after the purchase date, so, try to find someone that can tell you more about it...

no no, the bigger bike kind. as in the sr400's, triumph bonnevilles, the older kawasakis..

ex.. this style

maybe retro is a bad word... how bout classic motorcycles smile.png

Try some of the bike shops east of Narrawat bridge. Some of them have SR's that look like they have new engines. More than 30K like eek says and no documents either. Some of these shops do not have a very good reputation so buyer beware.

Theres some nice retro looking Yammaha's around, with that nice purring sound too. Theres a place that sells em just past HangDong on the right hand side. Around 60k starting price from memory, that was a few years back.

Any engine bigger than 150 will most likely cost around 60-150K baht.

As the guys have said it is unlikely you will find anything for that sort of money, just the green book can cost you that alone, and even then it is dodgy. Anything bigger than a scooter here is regarded as a luxury item and priced accordingly. I did buy a legit green book big bike for 80K in the Thai language classifieds, however it has turned out a renovators delight so to speak. Ka-ching. You might find an old Honda 125 etc in that retro style if you hunt around though. Would suggest the Thai language classifieds though as more out there, most of the relevant info is in English re model, engine size etc. Just may need a Thai to call and arrange inspection.
