Featured Replies

Heading to Chaing Mai from Hua Hin with a mate in a week or so. Has anyone taken a route similar to the one attached ? we are on a Versys and a Ninja 650.

In Tak you could take the 1 to Theon and then the 106 into Chiang mai. Of course mute if you want the extra miles along the border.

Yeh, thought going along the border on 105 would be a fun way.

Might do the Mae Hong Son loop while up there as well.

Fuel up in Mae Sot. Fuel is very limited along 105

Nice ride, hardly any traffic, some times hours pass with nothing on the road but you.

Stay in Mae Sot, Tak or somewhere there for the night before along the boarder, Best to head out earlier in the day to do that, Road is very good to fair condition in areas. A few steep climbs and areas of very narrow road in places just a few feet wide, OK on a bike though and a nice road to see for your self

Thanks for the advice on the fuel stop.

Any tips on where to stay in Mae Sot ? This is my first time to Chiang Mai area

Go straight into Tak just a few km past the mae sot turn off. Lots of hotels there. many under 500 Bt and many food choices. Start off fresh the next day for the twisties.

When you head into Tak, at the "T" just bearly over the river there is a hotel I have stayed that is OK. But in town and around are many decent choices

I stayed in te Riverside Hotel in Tak a couple of weeks ago they have rooms for 800 a night, nice place, free breakfast

The loop would be easy to continue on just follow the 108 north and then on to the 1095 in Mae Hong Song.

@inthake8:

would be nice to read your report after you will have returned. i.e. driving times, hotels etc

have a safe trip!
