The Specifics Of Moderation

Featured Replies

Regrettably, the ugly specter of racism reared its head again on this forum last night.

A forum member (whose name I shan't mention) took satisfaction from referring to mixed-race Thais as dogs.

This is of course appalling.

Many of you (just like myself) have half-Thai children. The suggestion that our children are inferior, or can be referred to as dogs, is simply unacceptable.

In a similar vein, all of us have a duty to remember that many Thais are mixed-race. But whether they are part Indian or part Arabic or part Chinese or are of Laotian descent, it is a disgrace to refer to them as animals.

The purpose of this thread is to commend the way in which moderators are very firmly stamping out racism on this forum.

It seems to me that all moderators are particularly sensitive to this issue; and it seems to me that all moderators are equally eager to consign prejudice, intolerance and bigotry to the trash cans in which they belong.

I'm sure all of you will agree that racism has no place whatsoever on this forum, and I'm sure too that many of you will wish to join me in applauding the way in which moderators are addressing this problem.

Suggest you read the forum rules more closely
