Have a large jungle bee nest. Had my home exterminator, Global, come over and they said I need a specialist. They swarmed and attacked my gardener and stung him 2 doz. times, need help asap!

I'm sure the one I had for 6 months was bigger than yours. Bees stung me, my baby, the dog, etc., etc. - several times. No one would touch it. Had about 4 different guys out to look at it. Everyone said that Buddhists consider it very good luck and destroying a bee's home could result in very bad luck coming to their home.

Finally one evening through word of mouth in the village, a guy came, he had no fear and climbed up right under the hive on a ladder and smoked the bees out. There were thousands and thousands of bees everywhere. He removed the hive and angry that there was no honey, tossed the hive in the jungle and took off. Did not leave a phone number. Good luck.

As I was researching this type of bee I saw a pic. of a famous Buddha and the bees made a nest that looked like a beard on it and they discussed the luck aspect. We had a hornets nest that a local came over with a few tipsy friends and burnt it down and we all enjoyed the larvae right out of it, some cooked and some alive and still wiggling about. If there are any honey lovers out there you can have all you find! Elektrified as for yours is bigger than mine I'll leave that for the missuses to discuss.

I just had a bee hive drop on my shoulder yesterday while sawing branches off a tree. I keep telling myself to check out the trees first, before cutting anything, but never do remember. I also brushed up against a couple colonies of red ants. It must have been my lucky day as I got away without any stings. I just had a hernia operation a few weeks ago and I still must have set a world record sprint when the hive fell on me, screaming like a little school girl the whole time. The wife's family were visiting and had a good laugh as I was told these variety of bees are very docile. One of them went straight up to the hive to get it and never got stung, even with hundreds of bees swirling about, My wife said we were fortunate to not have your kind bees. I know this doesn't help, but I had to tell this to someone. Good luck with your bee problem.

Amusing, thanks for the laugh, to be honest now that my gardener is back and feeling fine the mental picture of this lovely old man running around my garden swatting around his head and being followed by lots of bees is reminiscent of a tv cartoon from my youth.

We had our gardener remove a hornets nest and he did it in the evening just before dark.He went and got a nest full of big red ants and placed it in a plastic bag on the end of a long bamboo pole.He held the ants close to the hornets nest and the red ants left the plastic bag and entered the hornet nest,There was a hell of a fight and a lot of buzzing but all of the hornets stayed around the nest and tried to sting the ants. The ants inside the nest killed all of the young and ate the eggs and killed a lot of hornets also. The next morning not a hornet was left and the ants disappeared after a day or so.

Smoke them out...no harm to bees and chance that they will go and make a nest at your neighbor house, hopefully the one you don't like laugh.png

All's well, got a ref. from my exterminator and they came over last night, an old man and his two sons, and removed the nest and we shared the spoils, wonderful honey that was not too sweet and had a slight citrus taste and the larvae. Sat under the stars and had a lovely snack of them both. Samsiam, I'd rather not kill any living beings unless necessary as in this case. When I first noticed the hive I decided to just coexist with it but after the attack I had to put the health of my three boys, one just three weeks old, as a propriety. If anybody needs their number please feel free to contact me.

I just found this thread. For everybody with similar problems somewhere around Fang: I am currently keeping these wild asian bees in bee hives. I have the equipment to cut them out and transfer them to one of my hives. This solution leaves you with very little or no bees left in or around the house. The bees won't be killed and will find a new home under my care. I don't take a fee, as long as the bees are unharmed (unpoisened, unsmoked, etc.) Early notification helps. You could also write me a PM.

I passed a place today near Mae Rim that had a sign saying "Bee Farm." I went in and asked the guy how much it was for a bee, but he just looked at me like I was stupid...

... how much it was for a bee,......

That happens to be his competitors name: Fora Bee. Maybe that was one reason for the look. Even they don't sell them piecewise though.biggrin.png

By the way: Mae Jo University nearby has Thailand's chief bee expert now, who is my thesis supervisor.
