BANGKOK: -- An Italian man was arrested in Bangkok's Bang Kho Laem district for allegedly making pornographic films, Immigration Police deputy chief Pol Maj-General Warin Boonyakiat told a press conference yesterday. The suspect denied the charge.

Police say their investigation found that 58-year-old Marco Lazzarini was running the porn website perverx.com from a house in Soi Sathupradit 20. Police say they made the arrest after searching Lazzarini's house and finding film-making tools, sex props and a computer.

An initial police investigation found that Lazzarini had visited Thailand four times as tourist, had a Filipino wife, and allegedly used Thailand and the Philippines as a base for making porn films. Police have charged him with violating the Computer Crimes Act, punishable by five years in jail and/or a Bt100,000 fine, and revoked his Thai visa.

Almost anything can be deemed a crime under the so called Computer Crimes Act! I suppose this man will be deemed a threat to national security.

When you look around in Thailand, there are much more serious crimes unpunished.......

And I complete agree on the laws.....It is happening in all countries now.

Recently in Austria one guy wrote something forbidden in a forum (that laws about second worldwar) even tried to mask his traces by a software which claims to be 100 % save that no one ever kind find out where it comes from.

A day later police took him....

Yes, depending on who's doing the interpretation, it's being broken several times a day by most of us right here on TV.

But that's actually true for the whole legal system here, make everyone a criminal and TPTB can choose who to "crack down" down and for what at their whim, most often where it will further their own personal self-interest.

IMO he's being punished for being stupid, trying to make a living at something like that here. I think marijuana should be legal, but if you're being indiscreet about it here and get busted, won't find much sympathy here. . .

Stupid to believe any claims like that, or to rely on a single layer of security. There are ways to be 99.99% safe from a purely technical POV, especially from most local police forces, but of course it's a crime to use such methods here, or even to teach people how to use them.

OTOH if the three-letter agencies of the world police are highly motivated they've got the resources, not necessarily just online either, not much defense against the rubber-hose decryption method. . .

I am not surprised that it is possible to find that guy. I am surprised that the technology to find someone is so common that they use it on an idiot who was posting something silly in one of the more unimportant newspapers in an unimportant country.

I think it's so funny that just because they only arrest foreigners for producing pornography in Thailand, they think they have successfully convinced the world that the reason illegal porn keeps getting produced in the Kingdom is because of those naughty, depraved foreigners. It's almost as if to say: "No, no, world! It isn't the incredibly lax law enforcement and rampant prostitution that draws in amateur porn directors, it's that foreign morality that's really the problem. Don't worry Thailand. Mai pen rai. It's just farang (and the Japanese) that do these things. We Thais are the most morally pure people on the planet Thailand."

out of intererst i read through the computer crime act, and i couldnt find anything there what he possibly could do wrong, besides the simple fact everything is forbidden there already anyways, can someone point me to the section i might have overseen
