animatic
Sounds like a perfect way to make sure the graft is controlled from one central clearing house. Anyone not on the bosses good list gets prevented from getting any, and anything being syphoned the wrong way sends up flags. It of course also allows the opposition to be hung out to dry, or burning those fallen from grace as sacrificial lambs to appearances, thus giving the impression of a cutting down on graft. Ooh, how can you be so cynical? I like to think of it as 'observantly realistic'. Edited April 29, 2012 by animatic
animatic
The once was a female PM called Ying Luck Who in the house a policy just couldn't cook. He friends were bent, and some said daft, For their daily business included hard graft. In the end she just didn't give a F...iddle. -mel. Or The once was a PM called Ling Yuck Who's cronys all grafted the big bucks. They were said to be bent and the law couldn't prevent them stealing the treasury with dump trucks In the Parliament they watched the TV and the porn just appeared willie nilly They threw round the blame and tried to cause shame to make enimies hang themselves slowly. The PM she rarely arrives at Parliment to talk and to jive, While they're cooking the books she's off preening her looks and guessing how long she'll survive. Constitutional change is aim and order to get her big brother crossing the border The poor people be damned there is reconciliation to be rammed Without causing too much social disorder Some changes they want are quite daft like wide opening doors to free graft They want a totally free hand to take all they want from the land making sure that their boss gets his half. How long this goes on is the question will they push it too far with aggression Then the people shall agree that if they want to be freed the must vote down this party's transgressions Edited April 29, 2012 by animatic

retarius
So the government that allowed people to be paid to vote for them wants to end corruption, lets start with free, incentive payment free elections, then clean house of all the politicians with thier hands in other people's pockets, from every political party, then take a scourer to the law enforcement and immigration agencies, then move down through the various levels of local goverment, then onto the corporations then finally into the populace, of course it may only take a millenium to fully impliment. Are you actually suggesting that paying voters only occurs in the PT camp?

If a party leader campaigned on an anti-corruption platform while paying for votes, you would have to call him/her a hypocrite. If after being elected on paid-for votes, the same leader calls for an anti-corruption campaign..............well they could be reformed, or disingenuous. Up to you. True but you fail to take into account that 40 of those members were Thaksin trained. It won't be long and we will be seeing more of his trained politicians coming into the arena. Also you can go back 50 years and there would still be a lot of graft to be revealed. What has that to do with today?

Hell, Hong Kong was able to do it not too long ago, why couldn't Thailand follow suit? I say, give her a chance. BTW - the graft goes back to day dot here.... Buchholz
The premier explained that graft eradication was one of the government's urgent policies and that all those in charge should closely follow up on anti-corruption measures. Government to launch anti-corruption measures In a latest show of hostility to corruption, the government has approved new measures aimed at eliminating corrupt practices by state officials. At a special meeting yesterday, Justice Minister Pracha Promnog, Prime Minister's Office Minister Nivatthamrong Boonsongpaisal and other related officials announced seven measures intended to end malpractice by government officials. The measures will translate into several campaigns aimed at encouraging people’s participation in the fight against corruption, and creating a watchdog in every community and a scrutiny body to follow up complaints. The campaigns are also expected to lead to a study into different forms of malfeasance by government agencies, improvement in the operation of government agencies to ensure transparency, protection of foreign investors and entrepreneurs against corruption and more effective management of budgets to prevent misuse of money by those in charge of government projects. PM Yingluck Shinawatra will chair a meeting on May 18 during which she plans to discuss the measures and assign anti-corruption strategies to agencies concerned. -- NNT 2012-05-

OzMick
IMHO nothing motivates a Thai like those grey notes in your wallet. So how about whistle-blower legislation where the informer gets a healthy slab of any funds recovered from corruption, coupled with a really nasty and draconian asset-seizure law where persons convicted of corruption have to account for ALL income over the past 10 years, and prove applicable taxes paid, or lose it. As a person of supposed integrity, the PM could propose it (if she could find parliament). Then all she has to do is find enough MPs to vote in favour - good luck with that.

gemini81
Yingluck (you little cutie) to have an impact upon graft, corruption, extortion etc you will need to ruthlessly clean out the government first. So, after the house is empty, what then? Well, after thats empty, it'll be necessary to empty her bank account, along with her brother's, if we are serious about anti-graft. Start the anti-graft with the bimbo who is preaching it.
