Talking of drug dealers, I assume old Jug Ears is still in the Bangkok Hilton. I really enjoyed the TV programme where he was slagging off the people who come to visit him and bring him stuff. Way to go moron.

I am openly offered drugs about every 10 steps along Walking Street, I assume they are all police plants.

Some people are just too dumb to draw breath.

Got a nice sancerre in the fridge...

I have been going to Patters and Thailand since 1993....I have never been offered drugs of any kind in Patters at anytime.....I was offered some weed in Buriram once but only cos my mate had bought some...I politely declined the offer.

Is it that I just dont look like a junkie or is it that you guys do ???

I read that book a couple of years ago and was horrified to discover the appauling conditions that the Thai authorities subject foreign prisoners to. It sickened me to a point that from that time I will never, ever, give evidence against anyone, no matter how serious their crimes, if the prospect of a stay in the Hilton beckons them. The conditions are far worse than Thai's would face in a western country and their government would soon have something to say if, for example, UK prisons had seperate blocks for Thai prisoners with conditions and regimes similar to those imopsed on foriegners locked up in the Hilton. I am a believer in custodial sentences. Loss of freedom, yes, luxuries, no, but not to the point where inmates are made to sleep on the floor in rat infested cells and have to be deaths door before medical attention is even considered.

The British Embassy will no doubt be worse than useless, I have little confidence in it at the best of times. It doesn't exist to protect British nationals, just British interests. The two are poles apart.

As far as drug dealers are concerned I consider them to be the scum of the earth and I for one will not feel sorry for any dealer caught in Thailand who ends up in a Thai prison.

These bast*tards wreck people`s lives and cause untold misery for the sake of making a few easy bucks.

What do you expect the British Embassy to do?...get him tranferred to the Oriental?

I would imagine that the people who work for the embassy are also totally p*issed off with these idiots who waste their time.

Rat infested cells.....you should feel sorry for the rats having to put up with having these parasites living in their home.

If your appearance on Walking Street is this... or anywhere else in Thailand, especially the beach scene where offers are more common, it's not likely you'll be offered grass or anything else, except maybe glass cleaner for your spectacles...

I don't think you have to look like a junkie to be offered something, but if you look like this opposite end of the spectrum, you'll likely be spared:

Back in November when I was last over pretty much every time I passed the Best friends beer bar complex on the beach side of the road a Thai muppet would approach me offering ecstacy and cocaine. Every time I would do a body swerve not even making eye contact with bloke. A persistant guy he would always follow for about 10 paces repeating his offer before I  could get away. I must say I found him a pretty unpleasant charachter and he was really beginning to piss me off. No doubt he is still there as I have never bumped into thai police " on the beat". Is patrolling on foot a Thai police method? I think not.

Just go about 50 metres from the police box in walking street and there are Thai's hanging around offering drugs of every variety. When the police pass they just move to the side of the road and the police do nothing, I have sat and watched this (not so) merry go round many times..

Obviously these guys are immune from prosecution, but anyone else who tries to do the same is not........TIT.

As my girl picks out all of my attire, I will send her round to beat the carp out of you.....

Actually I am just a jeans and polo shirt type....An due to an assault isuffered years ago when my eyes were nearly gouged out with a stick, I was ko'd at the time, I get dark shadows under my eyes when tired or a bit drunk....I used to asked about drugs in the pubs here a lot cos I looked the type....

The guys on Walking Street are undoubtedly 'protected' plus they are on double bubble.

1. the money from the sale of the drugs

2. kickbacks for ratting the falangs they sell drugs to to the police

Still some people must be dumb enough to buy or they wouldn't be there.
