Change "Ed" To "B" Visa

Featured Replies

I am currently here on an ED visa (just graduated) and have now been offered a full time position in a language school. I have been advised that to obtain the "B" visa, I will need to leave the country to get the visa from a Thai consulate. I would appreciate if someone could answer these questions.

1. Is there a Thai consulate in Cambodia that you can get the "B" visa from?

2. If not, is the Thai consulate in Penang the closest to travel to from Bangkok?

3. How many days does it take to get the Visa from the consulate? 1 day, 2 days, 3 days etc

4. How long should the whole process take?

Thanks

Change to "B" from "O" visa

On what basis would you obtain an "O" visa? It is only issued for NGO volunteer type employment. Or you are married to a Thai and plan to get on that basis?

A Non Immigrant O is for marriage or as stated above, maybe you mean a Non Immigrant B which is used for business or employment.

sorry, my mistake. I meant a "B" visa. I'll edit my post to correct.

Any consulate will do, with paperwork from the school and a work permit application is advisable. I wuld use Laos (Vientianne or Savanakhet) or Kula Lumphur instead of Penang. Apply for the work permit first and get a wp3 receipt from the labour office.

Normally apply day 1 and receive back the next work day.

As said it is a normal next day process if you have the documents except in Cambodia where it could take 4 days or longer.
