Reversing Sensors

Featured Replies

Hi Everybody,

I am waiting on my new Toyota Prerunner, and I am thinking that getting a reversing sensor might be a good idea.

People tend to back into parking places here, and since I am from the US, this is something that I am not used to.

Is this something Toyota could provide? Its not listed under their accessories. Where can I have one installed? What is a good price for this? Is it worth the money?

Thanks for your help TVers!

Peace

Definately worth it.

Don't know the cost though, with all my cars bought in thailand I've always had the parking sensor thown in as a non-cost extra. I'm sure the toyota dealer can sort it out for you.

These are a standard freebie from Toyota and Honda , with mats ,rust proofing , paintseal , window film , central lock plus alarm . and the last two cars free insurance, ( first class for one year ) ...what free items did you get?? above is the basic list ..discounts are few and far between for the uninitiated ..but about 30,000 free items are easily achievable .

After market sensors easily available from about 1500 fitted up wards depending on what you want ie 2or 4 what display or sounds etc ..fitting takes about 1 hour .

They are very usefull I had rear and front on the Honda Jazz to maximise on the smallest parking spots ...the jazz front end is not visible for very fine manuvering .

The front sensors cost me about 1500 fitted with an isolator /activator switch .

Try to get colour coded if you can

Our MB (S) came with Parktronic (4way sensor) and it is great for back in parking...especially in the shopping mall garages where the space is always tight. I really find it helpful.

But when driving in BKK traffic it can be a little annoying as every motorcycle that comes within 18 inches of you sets it off. But, you have the option of turning it off.

When I first moved to BKK I found back in parking to be a little awkward. But, now I appreciate it. It is easier to back into and drive out of a tight spot than the other way around.

I don't have it on the avitar car. It is small enough not to need it.

I have one of those Organic parking sensors

Everytime I park the car this Thai man with a whistle apears as if by magic behind me blowing a whistle guiding me in.

He must be a fast bastard to get out of my boot that quickly.

I could do with a mute button, his whistle is sometimes a bit loud for me.

Thanks that helps a lot. I went to the dealer today, to put down an additional deposit (we ordered blue, and toyota wanted to make extra sure we wanted that color, lol).

The dealer was very helpful, and will put it on the truck, for free.

Peace
