Hi I'm desperate to learn how to speak Thai and have booked a private tutor for one hour a week she is charging me 40 pound per hour has anybody used Rosetta stone to learn Thai as this would be a lot cheaper I'm planning to travel around Thailand for 3-6 months next April so want to be able to at very least know the basics any advice would be great thanks

Your current private lessons seem rather expensive.

You will get better results - without any cost - from the website Thailanguagewiki.com

This website was put together by the Foreign Service Institute - has audio with transliteration but also with Thaiscript - once you learned how to read it.

I have personally used Rosetta Stone - which I bought several years ago before relocating to Thailand. I found it to be not very useful for beginners - but useful at the "advanced beginners" level.

Good Luck

Agree with the above comment. Your lesson is rather pricey but carry on mate. I assume it must be a reasonable price in England. Check youtube and other websites for lessons, can find some good ones. I personally think a tutor can help you but weekly one hour might not be enough. Get some books, for example Thai for beginners can do and there are many available books on the market.
