Thai Visa Help

Featured Replies

Hi, I've been advised to post on this site in the hope someone can help me out.

I'll try to keep it short.

I'll be flying to Thailand with a friend later this year and as he only has 3 weeks off from work he wants to see some of Laos. When he leaves i will continue to travel and will most likely go from Laos to Cambodia, that isn't a problem. When i leave Cambodia i will be heading to Thailand to meet another friend who will be flying out around Xmas time and i then plan to spend the next couple of months in Thailand. Obviously this won't be possible on the 15 day visa i would receive on arrival so can anyone help me out? What visa would i require to do this? Somebody mentioned getting a Thai tourist visa from Phnom Penh. Would this be ok? Also, how much is that likely to cost and how long would that give me in Thailand?

I'm sure questions like this have been asked before so i'll apologise in advance.

I'm 22 and from England.

Thanks.

That's not a visa. You'd get a tourist visa at a Thai Consulate.

1000 baht, I believe, good for 60 days. It can be extended at an immigration office for another 30 days for 1900 baht.

Since you don't seem to know about visas, would it be fair to say that you are planning on coming here without one? If so, and without a ticket out of Thailand within 30 days, the airline might not let you board for the flight here.

Good luck.

Ok that's good to know, thanks for that. I'm assuming i shouldn't have any problems getting this tourist visa then as long as i have the correct photos etc?

You're right I wasn't planning on coming to Thailand with one, last time i flew to Thailand all was sorted out on the plane. Also i've never heard of not being allowed to board a flight to Thailand for not having an onwards flight, i've had many friends that just book a flight when they are ready to come home. Is this a new rule? I may look into booking an onward flight before i leave.

Thanks for your help.

Get a triple entry tourist visa in your home country just prior to leaving.

Without a Visa or a ticket leaving Thailand within 30 days the airline can refuse entry to the flight.

For the normal traveler with a week or two visit the visa exempt stamp of 30 days is fine as they will have proof of onward travel within 30 days so no issue with airline. If longer airline often will refuse boarding until you buy an onward ticket. In your case it would be much easier to just obtain a two or three entry tourist visa (not sure if you will travel to Laos also) from honorary Thai Consulate prior to travel. Each entry allows up to 60 day stay and if you want to stay longer can be extended 30 days within country. The cost is not that much.

A tourist visa is what you should get. Count up the number of entries you need for your trip and get one that will cover your trip. Each entry allows you to stay in Thailand for 60 days. If you only get a 3 entry and it is not enough you can get a

re-entry permit at immigration for 1000 baht for one (or more) of the 60 day entries that would allow you to leave Suggest you get visa from a Honorary consulate in the UK. Hull consulate is good http://www.thaiconsul-uk.com/ .
