Work Permit Renewal, 1St Time, What Is Needed?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My work permit will expire in a few weeks.

It's my first work permit with this company (in Bangkok) and also the first since a few years.

What I would like to know:

- how long before expiry date does one best start the renewal process?

- what is needed for renewal: exactly the same as before?

- further to what is needed: does one have to do a medical check again, and how

extensive does it have to be? Can one suffice with the 100 baht med certificate at the

nearby "clinic/medical practice"?

- can one already add a second future address in the renewal wp? (my company will

move about 1 month later)

Thanks!

See the WP5 Renewal form at this link http://wp.doe.go.th/...rm/form_tt5.pdf

Answers to your questions depend on the individual Labour Office, but best you apply at least a couple of weeks early, they will keep your Work Permit and give you a receipt in lieu.

Some areas are insisting on the health checks - others not - ask your Labour Dept, but if they want a health check it will probably be with the syphillis blood test.

One thing - when you renew your WP the stamp is added to your existing WP, so you need to use the WP6 change of details form to change/add an address http://wp.doe.go.th/...rm_tt6_area.pdf - this is a separate process/fee; if your company has all the correct paperwork for the new address then you could try to do this at the same time as you renew by submitting both forms/paperwork.

Re medical certificate, I have had three WP's, one required blood and urine, the other two I was just asked "Are you feeling ok."

Thanks for the replies!!

Just another question: i would assume getting a doctor's/medical certificate, following some blood tests, would suffice.

Does this have to be done at a particular hospital, i.e. government hospital, or can it be done at any hospital,

or even does 'pop n mom' clinics, where you basically buy a med cert for 100 baht or so??

Thanks!

You just have to find one that knows what you are asking for and doesn't spend half an hour asking everyone that works there what it is you want.

Go and ask your local Labour Dept; they can quickly specify as to what they deem is acceptable/required and where you can go to get a medical certificate, if required.

Would you have a web address to download the work permit application, not the renewal.? I've searched MOL/DOE websites but cannot find one.

Thanks again Mario, saves me one trip to Labor Office.

Hey Mario,

At this link there is no downloadable WP6 form. Any ideas?

Also, If I fill in a WP5 for some changes of details (at the same time as renewal), do I also need to fill in a WP6?

Cheers
