RandomSand
I'm about to ask CAT to install Hi-NET ADSL in S. Pattaya... Whilst demoing their in-house system, I noticed that the ping from the modem (192.168.1.1) to the next hop (DSLAM/Router) was 38ms. This seems a bit high considering Hong Kong is under 70ms! Then I realized that it could be the latency of a ADSL2+ ATM frames... Indeed the router's config "homepage" showed a ADSL2+ PPPoE connection. Seeing as the CAT contract will be 2Mb/s; I wonder if I could simply run a Modem/Router at "old ADSL spec" for reduced latency, as I'd not need the speed benefits of ADSL2+ ? With this in mind; Does anyone know of a decent ADSL2+ Modem/Router - for Hi-NET - where I could "turn off ADSL2+" and run plain old ADSL ? ( Having a Rock-solid connection is my only concern... I could care less about Wireless-N... although I'd consider buying a TP-LINK TD W8960 ND off a fellow member here)
