I am filling in a form to apply for a settlement visa one of the questions says.

You stated that you are supported by a spouse/partner/other family member. Please give full details in the box below; including their relationship to you:

I just put (I am supported financially by my husband as we live together and I stay at home to look after our child ).

What is you total monthly income from all sources of employment or occupation, after tax

As my wife does not work, (she stays at home to look after our child) I would assume you put 0 in to the box

Have you lived with your sponsor in a relationship like a marriage

We have lived with each other since we have got married but how do I prove that?

One last thing my wife has already had a family visit visa would it be better to apply for another one stay in the UK for 6 months return to Thailand and then apply for a settlement visa showing that would then show she has had 2 visas and abided but the rules of said visa. (would it make getting a settlement visa any easier?)

Any help that anyone may be able to give with these questions would be gratefully received.

Thank you John

Sorry I do not know how to edit this post so am adding it on here.

Looking at the Thaivisa Express web site it says that: Your husband, wife or civil partner is present and settled in the UK (see the next section) I have lived in Thailand for about 5 years or so does that mean that I will need to return to the UK and my wife then applies for a settlement visa while I am in the UK?

Thank you

No, you do not need to return to the UK first. SET3.4 What is 'present and settled'?

'Present and settled' means that the sponsor is either:
  • settled in the UK and, at the same time that an application under the Immigration Rules is made, is physically present in the UK; or,
  • is coming to the UK with or to join the applicant and intends to make the UK their home with the applicant if the application is successful.................

...........Sponsors may be British citizens. Strictly speaking, a British citizen who has been resident abroad but who returns to the United Kingdom to live is not 'admitted for settlement'. However, if he / she expresses the intention of returning to the United Kingdom to reside, the ECO can regard him/her as present and settled in the UK.

There is also no point in her applying for another visit visa first. Why visit when she wants to live? There is no need for a settlement applicant to have ever visited the UK. A good history of abiding by visit visas may help in a visit application if the ECO has doubts about the applicant leaving the UK at the end of the visit, but this is a settlement application; the applicant intends to remain in the UK.

For guidance on filling in the form, see VAF GUIDANCE (NOV 2008).

To show that you live together? Any letters addressed to each and or both of you? She is presumably named on the Tabien Baan. You presumably have 5 years worth of Thai non-immigrant visas.

You may find UK Settlement Visa Basics helpful.
