Metal, Foam Padded Cases Wanted

Featured Replies

Hello,

I can order these from Hong Kong, but the price of shipping turns it into a losing venture. I'm looking for some of these type of protective cases often used to house electronics or other fragile items. If you can't click the link, basically they're "clamshell" type cases with a couple of (potentially locking) buckels. Inside the case is some kind of synthetic foam which you can customize to fit whatever you want. I would really like to find some bigger ones, maybe 50-100 cm square. Does anyone know of a place that's got a wide variety of them, especially the larger ones?

Thanks.

'flight cases' that are imported have the following duty

Steel/Aluminium 20% tax

Wood 30% tax

Plastic 40% tax

all + 7% vat

If you import direct from China there's no import duty but unless you know the factory and want the MOQ buyer beware

Locally there's PA and case - www.paandcase.com

Chinese hardware - OK quality (as good as chinese, but not in the same league as UK/European) i believe have stock on some generic cases but will make custom if you want

Thanks for the reply. paandcase looks like pretty high-end stuff. I'm looking to only buy a few--maybe 3-5 at the most. Hoping to find something in the 500-1500 baht per piece range. Am I dreaming? Gotta find those cheap Chinese ones...

Go to Talat Klong Thom this weekend. I saw flight cases on display at couple of places there last weekend.

Thanks, Rojack. As a relative newcomer (1 year) and since Thai transliterations seems to be a losing battle, can you give me some specifics about where this is? Appreciate it- Ryan

I guess 1500B might get you a case from PA&CASE - you could try having a look round 'Ban Moh' aka china town as well - depends how long you want it to last.

The market is bordered by 4 main roads, namely Luang, Worachak, Charoengkrung, and Suapa (according to the bangkokeasyguide whatever that is)

The GPS Coords for Khlong Tam Market are:

N13.74737, E100.50670

Best to go there after 2-3 pm on a Saturday.

Two suggestions:

Pantip Plaza on the ground floor has several vendor stands with a large assortment of such metal cases. Location is right near the center of the building but not in the central exhibit area.

Here in Phuket the Amorn shop in basement of Big-C has a large collection of such cases. I believe there are several Amorn shops in BKK, but probably not in Big-C.
