18-Wheeler Collides with Another in Severe Crash: Passenger Trapped in Wreckage
Picture from responders. A collision between two 18-wheeler trucks early morning on 21 January, on Asia Highway 41 in Ban Na Doem District, Surat Thani, left one woman trapped in the wreckage and requiring emergency rescue. The incident occurred at 02:25 when an Isuzu 18-wheeler truck, registered in Surat Thani, crashed into the back of another 18-wheeler parked on the side of the road near Moo 1 in Tha Ruea Subdistrict. The impact caused significant damage to the front of the moving truck. Ms. Pitchanan 28, who was seated in the passenger seat, became trapped in the cabin. Rescue teams from Kusonsattha Foundation, Ban Na Doem Rescue Unit, Kiansa Rescue, and Thasathon Rescue responded to the scene with cutting tools and lighting equipment to extract her. After an intensive effort, Ms. Pitchanan was freed from the wreckage. She sustained injuries, including facial injuries and lacerations to her right ankle, but was conscious and responsive. She was promptly transported to Ban Na Doem Hospital for further treatment. Police are investigating the cause of the crash, including whether the parked truck was properly positioned on the roadside. -- 2025-01-22 -
