No hip-hop, no rap ? You mean no Jay Z, Beastie Boys, PE, Eminem, R-DMC, Tupac, LL Cool J, De La Soul, Grandmaster Flash, Notorious BIG, Eric B and Rakim etc

Only a little disco ? Donna Summer, Bee Gees, Sister Sledg, Prince, Jackson 5 etc

Good luck with your new venture but restricting your output in such a draconian manner seems a bit odd - No ?

to be honest, I have been looking into this for several months and found that the majority of our "ideal markt" dont actually like Rap and hip hop any more than I do, and when I say disco I do mean the modern heavy bass, monotone stuff . there si plenty of it about on other stations so I would rather re- enforce our library with classic earlier stuff. Personally I dont like "I'm gonna slap my bitch to pieces " type stuff anyway. it has only succeeded due to its breaking barriers not listenability.

i had a listen yesterday, i liked it

any station that does not broadcast that heavy bass thumping is good enough for me

i hear it all the time from speaker loaded pickups, concerts across the lake, houses having parties etc

personally it drives me mad

i have my radio pre-set to 4 stations 88.5, 96, 103 & 105

on hearing the first bass BUMP, i switch station until its over.........

I have the stations set on 88.5, 96 and 105, and I hardly ever get a good signal from the 1st two, I tried the 103 yesterday and it to was very crackly, i've moved the ariel wire all over many times, why can't I get a good signal, we're in Soi Siam Country Club, is it just a bad signal area - is that possible?? it's a fairly new LG stereo.

Thanks

Jimmy

i normally listen to 105M..... Can't remember which one of the daily DJs has a pretty dire taste in music... anyway, i like the sound of "less talk"

I always appreciate feedback...William, can you tell me what sort of music it was you didn't like?

Less DJ talk (great if you can get rid of all the silly comments that come out of the DJs' mouths)

No RAP................... hooray

No Hip Hop.............. hooray

"AT LAST"

Good luck to you......... you should do well

I will give this a listen.

A suggestion though, please don't bother with the weather and traffic news. We know it's hot and we know where the heavy traffic is, don't need to be told this umpteen times a day....we live here!

Anyway, as you were...

Only one i can get in Huay Yai is 88.5, the rest seem to disappear as soon as i cross Suk?? 88.5 stays good all the way past Chonburi in the car ??

The 'Monkees' for example ....and other various old stuff which tbh i wouldn't even know who they are ! anyway all in all, I think the station is ok but definately could try and improve signal quality.... there seems to be a thai station on the same bandwith ?...( i am over on east side)

depending on where u are in SSCCR there are some really bad spots. the huge electricty transfromer station doesnt help either. In the car it works fine as most have antenna boosters built in. around the lake we are improving and within a month you will get us crystal..as we have a few modifications to make. I ilve the other side of the lake and get it fine, on a tranny as well as in the car.

Thanks William, we try and cater for everyone on 105 but with the range of people, ages and nationalities who potentially listen to us and other stations in Pattaya it is not easy to please everyone all of the time, but we do our best.

Regarding Signal strength, Tommy at 103 will tell you that this is the biggest challenge for all stations, Thai and International Stations in Pattaya. 105 is about to relocate its studio to a prime location on the Sukhumvit Road in the next week or so (weather permitting!) which will drastically improve the signal and with no large structures (man made or natural) in the way, I am very hopeful.

The good thing about Pattaya is, if you don't like a song, you have three other stations you can flick over to (as long as you come back to 105 after the song has finished of course!)

im in soi wat boon jomtien reception not good will you be upping the power

we will be doing more than that, very soon. thanks for letting me know. we have a transmission specialist who works with the BBC coming over shortly and he is going to look into aiming signal as opposed to overpowering it. He has been with the BBC for 40 years and its what he does.

thanks again for the pointer, sorry u are in a difficult area, for the moment :)

Thanks for the warning. I won't bother tuning in my wife's radio to the new station then.

Which Pattaya media mogul is behind this venture ?

NONE :) a few months ago I was looking for a new radio challenge and was introduced to the owners of 103, who are both local nationals. I have taken over the radio station. As to being a mogul, I will leave it to u to decide, but I have neither the looks nor the money to be such. Just a guy who has a passion for music, ( I write and play) and a love of the radio. We are building the station content slowly and looking for sponsors. the key to Fabulous 103 is that is has to eb F U N. no politics, no bum kissing, just fun.

AND WE ARE DOING OUR FIRST SHOW TOADY AT 9.. hope u will tune in

Thanks

I am getting 103 today in Huay Yai, still a bit crackly at times, the mix of music has been ok though. Still getting some interference from a Thai channel coming through at times.

thanks for that :) there is a thai channel, 102.8 which has a massive transmitter and bleeds over our signal towards your area. Will work on it over the next few weeks.

cheers
