British 34 Male - More Than 30 Day Stay

Featured Replies

I'm a 34 year old British male. I plan to come on a 28 holiday to Thailand so don't need a visa.

I hope to come into some money soon and be able to stay 3 or 4 months as a tourist.

Once in the country should I apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa type O. Would I need to leave the country - I assume not and that I could stay 30 days then 90 days.

Alternative could I just keep doing visa runs on a British Passport every 30 days. Or is there a better visa for me.

My plane ticket will be for 28 days later - but I will pay a fee to change it to a later date if I get a visa.

I assume I will not be able to enter with just a one way ticket.

Many thanks

Dave

Would it not be easier to apply for a Tourist visa with a longer stay before you go?

You can get a two entry tourist visa which is valid for 6 months from issue and is valid for two seperate 60 day periods - which you could break up with a visa run? That may be easier that trying to sort things out over there - i don't know? I am not sure what the differences are financially but certainly when you account for the cost of several visa runs plus your change of flight then then the charge for the visa plus one visa run might be cheaper.

I went for this option and applied for it through the Thai consul in Oz - I can't remember what I had to provide but certainly I was a skint traveller so at most it was a plane ticket on and a credit card.

Most Thai embassies have pretty good basic information - certainly the UK based ones do.

I did leave Thiland for about a week but I am sure a standard visa run would be within the validity rules to give you another 60 days once your first 60 had expired.

Perhaps other members can give advice regarding sorting it out in Thailand. :o

Having a visa is the way to go :o Get it before you leave home.

The cost of a Non-Immigrant Visa type O is £90 / 6,500 baht - bit of a waste if you don't use it. Plus I'd have to post off my passport just before I leave - small chance it could go missing.

pls follow the suggestion n get a double entry Tourist Visa in yr home country before you leave . Once here in LOS (Land of Smile ) yr entry stamp (30days) can not be changed to a visa .

Thanks for that very important last bit which I didn't know about. Would it be possible to do a 'visa' run every 30 days - leave the country and come back in on the same day for a new 30 days.

Even when you use Registered Mail ?

yes ,Visa run's are available by at least 4 companies in BKK n countless in Pattaya , once you here buy a copy of the BKK Post n you will find them all there .

Cost vary between THB 1600.- n 2000.- for the trip include Cambo Visa .

Just for yr consideration.

Once a month too. Won't take long to get up to that 6500 baht ( not to mention the self flagellation like regular runs )

correct , but VR are a option.

Of course I would get the Visa before I leave.

Eh no - according to the Royal Thai consulate in Hull a double entry visa is 50 pound. This gives you two entries of 60 days each - so requiring only one visa run.

You are going as a Tourist remember - not needing to get a Non-immigrant visa when the Tourist one is 40 pound cheaper!

Just send you passport special delivery - next day delivery and it is tracked all the way.

There are several Thai embassies in the UK - you might live nearer to one than you think anyway!!
