Transfering Car Ownership

Recommended Posts

Of both seller and buyer!

In case the seller is Thai, copy of housebook (tabien bahn) and ID card...

Sent from my GT-S5660 using Thaivisa Connect App

Might be a good idea to bring the blue book along ! And if the seller don't go with you to DLT, you need a power of atterney (standard form) with the sellers signature confirming that it is OK to transfer the car, without him being present.

work permit not needed

Depends. If no residence paper workpermit needed.

how can you register a car without a valid address?

They simply follow the address from the work permit.

But is is really very simple: either residence paper or workpermit is required by DLT.

Just to expand on what stevenl said. The Department of Land Transport want to see proof of your address. That proof can be:

  • Residence certificate from Immigration
  • Residence certificate from your embassy
  • Workpermit (because it has your address on it)
  • Yellow tabien bahn
  • Some people have reported residence certificates from other district or government offices being accepted, but you may not always be able to get one or they may not be accepted at your DLT
