Afl Football - Australia Network

Featured Replies

Hi - just wondering if any TV members might be able to give me a "heads up" on how I can get Australia Network connected at my condo at Phrakanong Sukhumvit Soi 71... I'm currently using True Vision but am finding that a bit over priced (for what you get) and really, I'd just like to be able to watch some AFL football on the telly when I'm there....

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

Cheers.

Rowdy

sorry mate its not good news.....True dont carry Australia Network as you know so either you have to set your own dish up on the roof just to get Australia network OR there may be a possibility that you can get Astro from Malaysia which carries the channel. But I guess that also needs a separate dish for you.

Have you tried this, it could be the answer to your prayers:

You want an outfit by the name of PSI, they are located on Pattanakarn Rd Bkk, not too far from you.

Costs 350 baht per month, they have the Australian Network channnel, regularly show AFL live, also shows the Astro channels previous poster mentions.

Australia Network are only showing 4 games a weekend this year (8 last year). The Friday night game, the first game on Sat, a Sat afternoon game, and the first game only on Sunday.

Tell me about it mate!

From what I can gather, we're lucky to be getting 4.

It has been 4 games a wkend for the last 7-8 years on Oz Network. (Though in 09 &10 you sometimes had 5 with a midnight reply of another game). They only showed extra games last season due to the fact that Oz Network lost the rights to show NRL games - a good thing in my book but I accept some were upset with that. (Most now watch NRL on Astro).

That was a one off. Rather than showing extra AFL games beyond the 4 this season Oz Network is showing non sports programming. Oz Network may lose the rights to show AFL games in the future seasons as the AFL is attempting to force all O/S based to subscribe to the new livesports mentioned above. Bastards!

For the OP, many cable operators in the Thailand have Oz Network. There are two other major ones in BKK apart from the one rgs mentioned;

http://www.charoencabletv.com & http://hitcabletv.co.th/main.php

Give them a call and see if your condo building is already connected, most likely Chareon is.

Failing that, freefootball.org also shows some games or you get your own dish and decoder as Oz Network is free.

Just a quick one for gkinbkk... how does the livesport streaming go in terms of quality (??) Is the band width and speed good enough ?? reason I ask is that I'm currently in India (will be back in BKK on Sat.) - and I tried the test video and unfortunately the quality was not good...(in India)... so I'm just wondering how is it in BKK..??

I have Aust. Network at my place in India... but just hoping to get it sorted in BKK as well...especially during the footy season...but also because it does show some half decent Aussie news etc.

Thanks again.

Cheers

Could you tell me the name of your condo please.

Does it have a pool and fitness room.

How much per month.

Many Thanks.

I have True (the only available choice in my condo), and I watched an AFL game last week. I am not sure how many games are televised, though.

When I lived in Bangkok proper, I used to go to an Australian restaurant down Soi Nana for a lamb lunch each Sunday, and I would hang around watching AFL or rugby.

hi rowdy100

Just a heads up on http://www.afl.livesport.tv/ I have this service and it streams without buffering all the time. I highly recommend it, They have a special at the moment of only $39 till the end of the season instead of the normal $99. You won't be disappointed. By the way i am using trues 7meg service to stream.

Hope i have been of some help. Orielys Pub in Silom have the games on, if you wanna watch it in a pub.

Cheers "GO PIES" Hot Pies.

Does anyone know how many english speaking channels are available with the free Australia Network from Intelsat 19 and their frequencies?

The link to live sport says they aren't broadcasting AFL in 2013. So how are people still getting it?

It's been taken over by AFL.com: http://afltv.afl.com.au/

I subscribed to live sport last year and the quality was good. Tried to subscribe this year through the link above but they force you to use paypal so didn't bother

Bugger.

Would have like to have seen what sort of defamatory threads you can get on an AFL website.
