Rescue Off Karon Beach Today.

Featured Replies

Kudos to Karon livfeguard Khun Noom for his rescue efforts today. This surfer guy damaged his foot and got caught in the rip tide. post-29217-0-85090600-1338456276_thumb.j

One of many rescues and tradgedies in the waters of Phuket today. I have no doubt the toll would have been higher without the guards.

Another good reason, other than the athstetic, NOT to wear tiny speeeeeedos!!....Gives the rescuer something to grab hold of rather than kilos of blubber wearing a hankie around their waist..

I was looking at the ocean at north Karon yesterday PM...vicious to say the least..

Next thing a youngish couple pull up on their bike and prepare to go swimming!!

They had come , luckily i guess where the lifeguards were sitting, and as they walked towards the beach, a lifeguard approached and was telling them that it was too dangerous...the guy was having none of this...i am not a baby..its my choice..i am a good swimmer..and every other thing you can hear..Dropped his and her towels on the sand and started striding down to the water...Then they were physically held by two or three 'guards...taken in hand to see the sign that tells all about ''red flags'' etc,,

They looked at the sign with no apparent recognition of what it all meant..and headed back for the beach again..determined to go die!!

The 'guards gave in a and let them play around near the shore....Best they could do for these clowns...if they had gone to another part of the beach..two more or at least one drowning would have occured...100%

Good effort by the 'guards' shame on the tourists!!!

Yes, very reassuring, and sounds like good 'un-Thai-like' interventions, too. Well done.

To me, though, beggars belief that anyone can be shown pictures and red flags, and fail to understand what they mean.

Doesn't sound 'un-Thai-like' to me. Thai people are just as capable of being professional and caring as anyone else. Saying that is like saying all Americans are fat, all Brits have bad teeth, etc etc. smile.png

Not all, just most... But as I always say; there are good and bad people, it doesn't matter what country they are from.

Edit: Whoops. I meant the Americans and Brits! And yes I'm an American.
