There is not that much report about non-b visa in SG so here is mine done on the 28&29th of May 2012.

The Thai embassy is very easy to find as it is located right on Orchard Road, busy street full of shopping center and something we don't see that much in Bangkok, trees.

They open the gates at 9:15AM so I arrived there a couple of minutes before to be waiting in a queue of about 30people.

Once inside, I filled the form and proceeded to the lineup... They have two counters and it went really fast. As the lawyer of my employer said, because I don't have the WP3 form yet, I had to go to SG or HKG to get my non-b approved and I would get only a single entry good for 3 months... but I was still anxious a bit to get refused.

Once at the counter the women who went through my paper has been really friendly (her name Shia I think) and answered my questions. She said she can give me only a single entry good for 2 months. I was surprised of 2 instead of the 3 stated by the lawyer, but it was still ok. I paid and left. It took 30minutes.

The next day I came back to pick up my passport around 2:30PM, as they open from 2PM to 3PM. No wait, simply went to the counter to pick my passport.

Back at Suvarnhabum they stamped me 3 months...

Also. There was no "angry" women verifying documents in the line up as stated in other reports...

What type of employment was this? It is my understanding that some do and some do not require WP3 forms - with teaching positions being easier in that regard.

It's an IT job.

What is this 60 days vs 90 days thing? I have never seen ANY visa (except Tourist) with less than 90 days...

Actually a visa on arrival is less; and so is a transit visa. As stated the entry was for 3 months so suspect the counter woman mistook the application to be for a tourist visa.

Even the single-entry tourist visa is good for 90 days, in the sense that it is valid for entry into Thailand within 90 days from its issue date. Strangely, though, on ThaiVisa the single-entry tourist visa is generally referred to as a 60-day visa, based on the period of permission to stay the traveller gets, whereas the multiple-entry non-immgrant visa is generally called a one-year visa, based on the period of validity for entry into Thailand.

I wonder which of the two types of validity periods the consular official in Singapore had in mind when she told a visa applicant that he would get a single-entry non-B visa valid for 60 days. I guess we shall never know.

A single-entry Tourist Visa, obtained outside Thailand, of course, is for 60 days: it can be extended for 30 days by going to another immigration office in-country, and filling out paperwork, providing photo, and paying 1900 baht.

If anything has changed regarding the above, I'd appreciate knowing it asap.

thanks, ~o:37;

The entry period for a tourist visa is determined at actual entry - not by the visa. Some will get only 30 days but most will get 60 days that can then be extended for another 30 days. There has not been any recent change.
