After blasting highway 12 through Nam Nao National Park (who says there aren't any liter bike roads in Thailand?!) we took the back road to Loei. 2016 is an amazing roller coaster ridge road with stunning views.

Fast fun ride to Nan! 203 to Dan Sai, 2016(?) to Nakhon Thai, can't remember the road number to Chatrakan, but it's beautiful. Highway 11 from Uttaradit to Den Chai is a race track of a road! 6th gear 200kph sweepers- awesome! Forgot how much fun the 101 to Nan is!

BIG motocross competition in Nan tomorrow. 50+ teams from all over Thailand. Nan is definitely biker friendly tonight!

On a whim we decided to head south on the 1333 to see where it goes. On some maps it appears to dead end, but on google maps it seems to connect with the 1257 and go through to Mae Charim and Santisuk. Only one way to find out for sure- lets hit it!

Nan, Thailand- motorcycle paradise! biggrin.png

Thans allot for all the organising Tony, great ride... loved that back road we ended up on despite almost putting it sideways in the mud.

Im sure the 91 Benzene we got from that little place on Sunday afternoon was something more than 91. Filled up with PTT 95 Gasahol on Monday coming back to CM and bike definitely didnt run as smooth or responsive. Sort of makes sense if you think about it logistically.. Petroleum companies don't want to send 3 separate tankers out to the boonies so 95/91 gasohol are same delivery and 91 benzene could be 95 benzene pre lacing with ethanol back at depot

1148 coming back was a hoot and over the mountian it was foggy as hell.

LInked back into 1 and then did 120 till main twisties were over then headed back and did it again and then of course had to come back to 118.

Stopped at PTT after exiting 120 on 118 and saw that back tyre had degraded to point where steel fibres could be seen.

Somewhat relaxed ride from then on.

great ride 2200 kms in 4 days.. when we doing it again.

If they ever pave out that back road we went on Im going to move to Bo Klua...

cheers

Add the recently completed highway 11 from Uttaradit to Den Chai to the growing list of Superbike-worthy roads in the Land of Smiles! biggrin.png

Great weekend! I'm glad you had fun! Yeah, dunno what they put in the gas at that little station but I filled up with "91 gasohol" which my bike usually does not like at all, yet it ran just fine, even when we hammered back into Nan on the 1169 - no pinging or knocking. Go figure, huh?

Ran your Angel down to the steel belts, eh? Nice! clap2.gif

This video of the 1333 came out quite nicely. You can send this one to your kids and show them how much fun dad is having. laugh.png

Nan always seems to hold some surprises.

That rear tire one the '99' plated bike sure looks like it now has a square profile - or is it just the blue color in the foto !!!

Not square yet- that's a Pirelli Angel which is a long running sport touring tire. (Bit of an odd choice for a GSXR, but I put that on for our tour to Malaysia as I was worried that a softer sport tire might not last the whole tour.)

Have nearly 6000km on this tire and it's still got a lot of life left. Trade off is that it's a rather hard tire, takes time to warm up, and gets a bit "squirrely" when you try to lean it right over to the edge.

Just posted this on separate topic in motorbike forum but got 18,000 kms on my rear Angel. Bloody amazing. yes the squirrely is exactly correct but mine are smaller squirrels than yours as Im nowhere near as intimate with the tarmac as you get.

Thanks for the info. I could not tell if it was just the angle of the foto, or the cross section of the tire itself.

I would imagine the first time you lean over far enuf to make the transition, it feels weird !!!

Route 1333 in Nan was memorable for a lot of reasons, including the landslide / wash-out at the end!
