I have been working in Thailand for ten years. I have recently been terminated from my employment which cancels my work permit. My visa is valid until 31 July 1006. When my work permit was cancelled did this also cancell my visa or is it still good until the expiration date? If it cancells my visa, how long after the work permit was cancelled to I have before my visa is cancelled?

Hi CC and welcome to Thaivisa.

This seems to confuse many people, as I understand it:-

If you have a VISA (obtained from an overseas consulate) that expires on 31/7/06 (assuming it is a multi entry) you can continue doing 90 day visa runs with your final entry before 31/7 when you will again get a final 90 day stay.

BUT

If you have an EXTENSION OF STAY (obtained from immigration in Thailand) that expires on 31/7/06 that will be cancelled when your employment terminates (as the employment was the reason for the extension). IIRC you then have 7 days to make alternative arrangements or leave the country.
