Why else would someone start such an inane thread? whistling.gif

I would hazard a guess and say 95% of the geriatric farangs in Thailand cant remember or even know their wives or GF real name

Yeah but I don't care 'cos I know what she looks like.

You don't say

Let me get this right, this a thread about men congratulating themselves because they remember and can write their wife's name ?

If you take out the trash, what should we give you ? The Nobel Price ?

Yes I know her name. I could give writing her name a try although I'm not sure I would get all the right constanants.

I have never needed to know how to write her name in Thai or her ID number or the house book in 11 years and can't see why I ever would or what the point of asking is.

I know my girlfriends real name and id number, we had an issue last year where the Thai passport office issued my lady with her first passport, and the translated name did not match the translated name on the id card.

My lady pointed it out to the Passport office and they said that the name they had allocated to her was the official name and she had to get her id card changed. I'll not identify my ladies name however the difference was very little, the id card had her name as Kam...., the Passport office had it as Kham...

This caused major problems, all major documentation had to be changed, including her drivers licence and University degree, ( yes she has one, no she's not Hi-So Chinese ). I think it took her about 5 weeks of arguing with every agency under the Sun to finally get everything to match.

So lo and behold!!!........I had booked us a few flights using her original id card, I was at Denpasar airport at Bali when the airline pointed out that her name on the ticket didn't match the passport name rolleyes.gifcrying.gif

It took me 45 minutes of arguing with different levels of management before they finally folded at let her board the aircraft. I can understand why there can be some variations in translating Thai script to Roman, I know there is not always a direct translation, I'm just pointing out a wee story that might be of use to others.

I think you mean transliterated. People's names are not translated, or else the Thai names come out into English with something that we know the meaning of.

Is it true that a married farang (from his original wife) can get married again or marry a thai girl in thailand itself even if he's not divorced yet? If so, can the wife sue the thai girl or her husband or file a lawsuit in thailand against them?

I cant help but smile or laugh reading these thread of messages from guys' quotes in this forum.. May I ask what pleasure do you get having or living with a thai girl and yet you have or still married to your original wives (direct question to married farangs but forgot that they are still are once they set foot in thailand). Geezz, is honesty and fidelity against the law in thailand? Just asking

An interesting addition to the poll. Do you know the meaning of your partners name and surname before marriage?

Don't you have anything better to do than nitpick the wording of a poll?

There really are some very sad people on this forum.

No, but it's strongly discouraged.

All my wives know about each other, and they all accept that I sleep around outside our marriages.

No dishonesty or infidelity here.

And this was true long before I ever set foot in Thailand, the myth of lifelong monogamy's been past its use-by date for a long time in the West.

IMO this just happens to be one area where Thailand is actually ahead of the curve in humanity's social evolution.

Now if only we can just get them going back to walking around topless - the right ones that is. . .

Can you explain the significance of the house papers please? ( I've not come across that issue with me not being a resident ).

It's the official "home" of the Thai, where they vote, are counted in the census and other dealings with officialdom.

It's possible to actually change whenever you move to a different place, but most Thais don't, the owner of the property has to agree to list you there. It's traditional to leave it back at Mama's, where they want to go back to with their winnings when they've finished role-playing mia farang.

Not a bad idea to have it changed to where you actually live, one less (hopefully long) trip back home every time she's supposed to vote.

Side note - my last few SOs haven't bothered, I take it they aren't enforcing the fact that it's supposed to be mandatory?

i know the thai names of 98 percent of my thai freinds and workmates, why would i not know the name of a woman i having sex with?

Since we're talking about the full name - usually dozens of syllables that sound like gibberish to most farang - this can be difficult for some, especially those that have more than a handful per month.

I have copies of everything, but I certainly didn't memorize any numbers. Also, she uses her Thai name because she doesn't have a nickname.

Or maybe she just didn't want to share it with you, either because it's embarrassing in English, she doesn't want that level of intimacy with you, or maybe a fortune teller told her it would be bad luck.

I never let them get a hold of my hair or fingernail clippings. . .

You can consider all you want, but knowing a number is not the same having a photocopy.

Why would you ever want to have them all memorized?

Scans stored safely to digital storage are better anyway, linked to from my "if I ever die a violent death" message to my family back home. . .

That got me thinking along the lines of Charles Aznavour and "To All the Girls...." and there was some wonderful multisylabic gems in my past. Amongst them Watthanalai Tharasena, Nitthanaporn Phanthaprathoom and the unforgettable Suphawan Masaleetbyrnfahk.

Umm... if any of you guys are now married to any of the above damsels, please give my fondest regards to Nit, Porn and Candy.
