This resort is around the corner from our home in Nong Khai, not to be confused with the Pantawee Hotel down town in NK.

http://thailand.pantawee.com/ its around B450 a night, very peaceful and of course on the Mekong. The bus will drop you off.

There is a wonderful boutique small hotel also near us, I am trying to find the name for you and will post accordingly.

Edited to add..

Sofa Gallery Hotel is very special and I do recommend ..http://www.tripadvis...i_Province.html

More expensive but a very pleasant option.

On the right hand side of the airport before you exit, you will see a Taxi/Mini bus booth, this is an extension of the Travel Agency in town on the main run... you can also book your trip over the bridge for the following day if needs be.

NB I see you want to be near the market end... but there are quite a few to choose from although the backpacker guest houses are plentiful.

Take extreme care if you stay at the Pantawee. My friend and I stayed there in May this year and had numerous problems with the staff and the rooms.

Friends shower was continually flooding despite them fixing it several times.

A lack of power points in the room and some power points were located close to the ceiling!

Rooms were not cleaned properly. Dust everywhere and the bathroom was not clean at all.

Hotel took a 200 baht key deposit and would not give it back when I checked out. They claimed they had given it to me already. My friend who was standing next to me confirmed they did not give me back the 200 baht. In the end after some friendly talk for 5 minutes they finally gave the 200 baht to me. A very unpleasant experience indeed.

Upon going back to the hotel after my night out on the town male staff member got my key but would not give it to me. He decided it was a good idea to play question the falang game." you want lady? " You want massage? and so on and on.

Again after some friendly but quite unnecessary talking I finally got the key to my room.

For a few moments I actually thought I was in an episode of "Fawlty Towers"

Check Trip advisor for other customers views.

There are many better options than this hotel. If you like I can supply more information as I made a point to check out other places after the extremely shabby treatment I received at this hotel.

Also this place is a good 5 minute walk to the river and many other places are located right next to the river. After your night out it is much better to be a stones throw from your room instead of walking for 5 minutes late at night to your room. Tuk tuks are available but they will ask for 60 to 70 baht and this is an unnecessary expense and really who wants to negotiate with the tuk tuk late at night?

Just my 2 cents worth and I hope this is of some help to you.

I had actually placed by mistake the Pantawee Hotel instead of the Pantawee Resort.

There are two hotels bearing this name.. Pantawee Resort is my recommended choice.

This Pantawee Resort is totally different and is spotless.. Right on the river and near the Bridge.

Pantawee Resort Hotel: resort near thai-laos friendshipbridge

This is a good hotel on the mekong river and near the Thai-Laos friendshipbridge. They have rooms from 400 and 500 bath. Quiet place and about 3 km.outside Nong Khai centre. Friendly staff and helpful.

Unique Quality: restaurant near the mekong river, nice vieuw from the friendshipbridge and verry quiet.

  • Opinion of Price: least expensive
  • Address: 210 Moo Kaewworawut Rd,Muang district,Nongkhai 43000 Thailand
  • Phone: 042-411008-426000
