I have used every thing from powder to cream, I have brought back from OZ. Yet when I put my boots on to ride my bike or go walking in the jungle or plantations, I come back with feet that can kill. No matter how much I wash them, or what I do they, can clear a room in minutes. Anyone have an answer, done peckly heat powers, tiger balms and l creams that supposedly kill bacteria after 5 apps, Normally ware sandals, but still they stink. Anyone out there have an answer or am I forever to be the man with smelly feet. Joim

Well, you could go to one of those foot massage places that let little fishes nibble on your feet. If the smell and taste don't kill them, then perhaps they can gnaw the smell away. thumbsup.gif

Or regularly go to a swimming pool with lots of chlorine. Or as someone else mentioned, soak them in a weak dilution of bleach and water. Guaranteed to kill any living parasite on your feet, along with the smell.

I'd say not to wear shoes unless absolutely necessary but they can be required when foot protection is indicated...

when I'm working I wear boat shoes (they are like slippers and non obtrusive) and remove them immediately when I'm at my desk...on a couple of occasions some boss would come and shout: 'this a professional operation and suitable professional footwear is required!'...and the usual response is: 'get fcuked, asshol_e...yer feet stink...'

foot comfort and health/sanitation is important like regular, normal bowel movements and some folks don't understand for professionalism's sake...'hey...I don't wear shoes when I'm surfin'; why should I wear them in yer stinkin' office?...'

Definitely no creams or balms, they will only make you sweat more.

Wash with an antiseptic soap like Dettol, make sure thoroughly dry before putting on shoes.

Cornstarch inside shoes (or socks, if you wear them -- in which case also make sure they are 100% cotton). Better than anything else, it really soaks up the sweat.

I'd add baking soda to the cornstarch.

I've found rubbing alcohol effective. Put it in spray bottle and spray your feet before putting on your socks. Sometimes I lightly spray the bottoms of my socks too. Helps a lot.

Get the jump on athlete’s foot

A bad case of athlete’s foot can drive you hopping mad. But you can often quell the infection, and quickly ease the itching, by rinsing your feet three or four times a day for a few days with undiluted apple cider vinegar. As an added precaution, soak your socks or stockings in a mixture of 1 part vinegar and 4 parts water for 30 minutes before laundering them.

wearing socks is an anathema in hot climates...I try to avoid them as much as possible and usually keep a clean pair in a desk drawer when they can't be avoided...you need them when wearing safety shoes at site to soak up the sweat and moisture and to prevent rubbing and blisters...otherwise, what a drag; a perfect incubator for the bacteria that causes stinky feet...

A very effective and cheap way to prevent foot odor is with sodium bicarbonate (a mildly basic white salt also known as baking soda, bread soda, cooking soda, bicarbonate of soda, sodium bicarb, bicarb soda, or simply bicarb). Sodium bicarbonate will create a hostile environment unsuitable for the bacteria responsible for the bad smell. Four pinches of it on each foot everyday are usually enough (two inside the sock and two on the insole of the shoe). Sometimes it might take one or two days before the shoes completely lose their old smell. Washing your feet and applying the sodium bicarbonate daily are also potentially useful solutions.

Always keep your feet dry.

Socks should be washed with hot water after every use.

Footwear should be washed or cleaned/disinfected after every use.

Powder is better than creams.

Did you try a powder with clotrimazole (anti fungal)

It will take a couple of weeks or more to get rid of this problem - re-infection is what you must stop.

(of course, a Doctors advice would be best).

No household should be without Baking Soda, it has a million uses.....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_bicarbonate

Normally ware sandals, but still they stink

As some other posters mentioned....you need to be sure to disinfect the footwear also.

Sandals, flip-flops, boots, or shoes....take care of them to kill bacteria....especially inside the soles.

Srray them and use a disinfectant spray when you go to bed, and leave them overnight to air out and dry completely,

Moisture in your footwear is probably the place were the bacteria that is the cause the smell lives and grows....take extra care to keep your footwear dry inside for that very reason.

P.S. As someone mentioned....Baking Soda (Sodium Bi-carbonate) is the hikers friend. For one thing...it's basic...most bacteria like a slightly acidic enviroment to grow....and Baking Soda counteracts that acidic enviroment. Secondly Baking Soda as a powder absorbs smells. And thirdly, Baking Soda absorbs water and water vapor. So sprinkling a light dusting of Baking Soda in your footwear before you turn in at night is the smart walker's final daily chore when hiking/treking.

Smelly feet could be diet related.

Dairy foods and especially high consumption of milk will give you very smelly feet.

Do you eat a lot of dairy ?
