Which Countries Now Exempt From Import Duty?

Featured Replies

I would like to have DVDs manufactured in another country and imported into Thailand.

Which countries now have a trade agreement with Thailand whereby imports of such products are subject to no or reduced import duty?

I found this from the Thailand Business and Legal Guide so far:

Thailand, as a member of ASEAN, is subject to the agreed plan for reduction of import duties that applies to trade between all the ASEAN countries. Thailand is also a party to other trade agreements, including the trade group BIMSTEC, and bilateral trade agreements with India, China, Bahrain, Australia and New Zealand. In the long term, import duties will be reduced and will in many cases disappear under these agreements, and free trade will become the nor rather than the exception.

What's the latest?

Thanks!

I had a chat with a dive equipment importer here yesterday and they said they are paying full import duty on goods from all countries including China and Singapore.

So by that I take that as yet there are actually no countries that have "free tade" with Thailand. Correct?

Correct.

I was looking for China (there is a FTA agreement between China/Asean) but it remains virtual for now... Will take some time.

As for Australia/thai (with real FTA) I don't know the situation. But usually it's not for all kind of products.
