Seen flaxseed oil in Villa at Major Complex opposite SCB park about 4 weeks ago....not too far from you

If memory serves it was an Aussie brand and on the shelf with all the other types of oil, think its second last aisle from the wine, shelf cloest the checkouts

It is my understanding the seed itself will not digest ie straight in straight out. It need crushing

Yes and No, I use 50/50 mix.....I just grind it in a pepper grinder I bought for the purpose, the big thing with flaxseed and flax seed oil if exposed to reasonably high ambiant temperature the oil goes rancid...I keep the flax seed in the main bulk of what I buy in freezer and keep the quantites I am using that week in the fridge

I'm not so sure it's as sensitive as many say. I left 20ml of flaxseed oil at room temperature for 3 weeks just to see. It didn't seem to change and didn't smell bad.

Tropo,

Was the flaxseed in an open or closed container when you left it ?

It was in a little glass container on my computer desk.

Flaxseed oil has a very short 1/2 life and goes bad very quickly. If you are using it for its health benefits then you really need freshly cold pressed oil. Even in sealed bottles it must always be kept refrigerated to extend it's life. I would be wary of any flaxseed oil being sold here that was not kept refrigerated and I would also closely examine the bottle for the use by date.

also.. if the bottle is clear then that is a huge red flag. Flaxseed oil must be kept out of the light at all costs. The bottles must be opaque or they are not keeping the oil fresh.

This is the only brand I personally trust http://www.barleans.com/

If you call them and tell them you are using the flaxseed oil for cancer treatment then they will extend you wholesale pricing and ship you freshly pressed (that morning) oil to your doorstep. I have had this done in the US but never had experience in having it shipped to Thailand from the factory directly but you could always get in contact with them and see.

When I buy it in Canada it's always sold in a black plastic sealed bottle. I always bought the same brand and I always stored it in the fridge, I think it even says so right on the bottle.

If you live in Canada, you should be buying Udo's Choice blend. Nothing holds a candle to that. His latest formula has DHA/EPA added. Udo Erasmus is the number one guru when it comes to knowledge of EFA's.

The oils I've been buying at Villa are not refrigerated, neither does it indicate on the bottles that it needs to be... and they have expiry a year from now.

Who knows? I haven't seen any research to show how fast flaxseed oil goes off. Of course, chemically omega 3 is the most unsaturated oil in existence and it's just waiting for oxygen to cleave the unsaturated bonds.

If anyone is really worried, just buy the whole seeds and grind them - spoilage problem solved and you get the extra benefits of consuming the whole food with lots of fiber.

Thats exactly what I do...
