Who'S Extended A Tourist Visa At Chaengwattana Lately?

Featured Replies

My current tourist visa expires next week on Friday, so I'll need to drop by the immigration office here in Bangkok for an extension. It'll be my first time to the chaotic frenzy of hell that I've heard so much. I've managed to completely avoid it, by either being in Pibun Mungsahan or going to the Suan Phlu office, but the time has come to brave the complex at Chaengwattana.

So, are there any tips/tricks/things-I-should-know so I lose my Chaengwattana virginity quickly and gently? Things to avoid/not do?

I actually find the chaengwattana office to be more efficient and easier.

Concur.

My recomendation would be to go first thing Monday morning

I went two Mondays ago and was in and out in 17 minutes.

Arrived at CW at 8.15

Ate to 7 - 11 sandwiches

Doors opened to immigration office at 8.30

I was #1 in queue for TV extension

at 8.47 all was done

Just make sure you have all the paper work ready

Ate to 7 - 11 sandwiches

Had to read that a second time as wondered how you ate that many sandwiches in a non eating area of Immigration in 17 minutes on first read.

As said it should not take that long. I arrived at 0832 Wednesday and was out at 0947 with retirement extension and had 9 in queue ahead of me.

Thanks guys.

Huh. Every story about CW I've heard is that you spend hours in a crowded building being sent from desk A to desk B to desk Z.

Then I'd retort with how in Ubon they are done in 5 minutes, yet they spend most of that time inspecting your non-Thailand stamps in your passport and asking what the weather in Spain is like.

But looks like the CW experience might not be so bad after all. Just go early seems like it.

The biggest obstacle can be the horrible traffic on the road to CW - but once there, pretty organized, but I still miss the closer (to me) location of Suan Phu

I would think that if on a tourist visa and looking for an extension you could use one these of offices if it was more convenient to where you are staying.
