It is a no win situation for the police. If they say nothing they are covering up and if they say something they get bashed. Foreigners in this country amaze me, they are the biggest bunch of cry babies I have ever seen. Oh by the way I am not Thai.

Well when you don't know, throw a bunch of theories out there and hope one of them sticks so you can CYA. Hmmm, food poisoning, ibuprofen, drugs, Portugese men. I wonder what the next theory will be to throw everyone off to hide the fact that there is a lot of incompetence going on here.

why cant we see the cctv of the sister going back to their room?

its very irresponsible to publish the name together with "hunt"...

they can ask the person as a witness to contact police asap or so...

Same reason the BST will not release footage of the Irishman getting beat up..? .whistling.gif

I would be glad if they dont release it....TV finest forensic experts and Shelock Holmes wannbee's will be analysing it frame by frame and will be able to tell us in their "professional" opinions exactly what chemicals have been ingested by the deceased gait and posture...rolleyes.gif

I want to punch myself in the face after reading this, first off, on last night's Thai news, I saw the CCTV footage of this guy walking with the girls in the hotel hallway back to their room, and he certainly wasn't he "helping" them as the article states, as though he was carrying them or assisting them. He was talking to them, and walking a bit ahead of one of them, thats it. And this article offers no new info, none at all, really.

at what point did the cctv stop?

did he walk further, did he go into the room, did he turn around and go back, how did they say good-bye (waiving, lame nodding...)?

why would one think, the girls werent feeling well on that video?

It just didn't seem like they were being "helped" to their room, they certainly didn't appear to be in a stupor, they were indeed walking upright, slowly but consciously, thats all, and no I don't know when or how they said their goodbyes, whatever man, I just meant that the article - especially the headline - is misleading and irresponsible "Thai Police Hunt For Portugese Men"

strange... didnt sami-the-scott say in her interview, that this friend who walked them to the hotel has been interrogated already?

all other reports say, the two guys left for phuket "after the girls had died" - even though nobody knows when they died...

other reports also say, the cctv shows the girls coming back to their room feeling not well already...

And she just removed 139 pictures from her Facebook page of people partying in with her in Phi Phi. Samantha Kay Dundee in case you are interested.

WOW you appear to have some serious issues my friend...it appears Samantha Kay Dundee has her own TV stalker

I know what you mean. I have been browsing and posting on this forum for ages and whenever I read a headline title I know all of the bashing people here will be doing. I put it down to the fact most expats are old men who like to try and find faults in things and feel superior, that is just my point of view. I admit there are many things wrong with this country, there are things wrong with every country, but if people complain and complain daily here, why the hell don't you move away?

In the same report, their uncle, Eric Belanger, told the CBC he wasn't certain when the family will learn the results of toxicology tests conducted in Thailand.

In the U.S., it will take 6-8 weeks to complete the toxicology tests on Rodney King, according to the authorities. Bull - doesn't take that long to get the results back - certainly not in high-profile cases where you move your victim/evidence to the front of the line.

It probably does take a few weeks to come up with a good way to spin the truth and make sure to CYA though.

Let's hope this investigation continues, .....fairly. If possible, there should also be in-depth interviews with anyone (particularly pretty young women) who has gotten very sick in recent weeks/months at Phi Phi. Because nearly all of the grave illnesses and deaths there have been attractive young women, then it indicates a strong possibility a date-rape drug was mis-used, to a fatal degree.

Additionally, the farang men who were seen with them could have been simply assisting two people in distress. - though there appears to be no evidence he/they checked up later to see if the girls were alright. And will be interesting to find whether there was any evidence the men checked with anyone else (clinic/hospital/hotel staff) who could offer assistance to two very sick people. Plus, did the girls (or why didn't the girls) reach out, when they started going under?

I read earlier thet were staying in the same hotel ( the two guys ) maybe they are still in bed did the bib check , hell no

in 2024 when a first world country invades thailand

Hopefully the Quebec authorities will carry out their own testing if the parents will allow fo furrherr intrusion on the girls bodies.

Still a terrible situation for any parent to endure.

I had the experience of a farang who drugged a friend of mine and he would of died if i didn't check on him. Here is the story.

Back in 1992 I was living at Cowboy Guest house in Chiang Mai for 3 month stay. I met a journalist named Richard who was also doing a long stay and I showed him around North Thailand as I could speak Thai and new many nice villages. A man who said he was from Spain was doing a short stay and befriended both of us. We knew him for about 3 days and he asked me if I would talk to girls and take the to japan, the USA or another country where he would them meet them and i would leave and get paid. I thought that very strange and wrong. That evening we went out on the town and he paid for our good time. In the day room he offered us yogurt and I said no thank you and I was going to bed. Richard took the yogurt and ate with him.

The next morning I was to meet Richard for breakfast and head out for a 3 day motorbike journey to visit villages. When he didn't show up i went to his room to wake him and there was no answer from my knocking. I then had Cowboy give me the keys to get into his room. He was laying their lifeless and would not respond to my trying to wake him up. Next to his bed was a heroin kit with needles, spoon, heroin and everying to make it look like a drug overdose. I ran downstairs and flagged a Songteaw. 3 of us carried Richard to the Songteaw and rushed him to McCormick hospital. Richard did survive but only barely. His laptop, money, passport and anything of value from his room was stolen.

Cowboy guest house did not take down passport information from guests at that time and is hopefully now out of business. I gave my full report to the police and informed the US consulate about the strange man from Spain wanting me to take girls out of the country for money.

In my experience living here I have found farangs can be more dangerous than Thais. many Russian, Chinese and European Mafias are in Thailand to exploit tourists.

When people are on holiday they put there guard down. They do things they would never do in their home country. Be vigilant, do not take food from strangers. It seams from the police report this man from Spain used a needle to put a heavy fast acting sleeping drug into Richards yogurt, shot him up with heroin, took everything he had and split right after.

I am so glad I DO NOT take food from strangers.

Be careful,

Randy

Soutpeel firstly I am glad you acknowledge that this girl is connected with the case. That is the first intelligent thing you have said in 2 days. Checking a facebook listing would be the very first thing anybody with an ounce of brains would do if they were interested to find out about the case. I saw the 139 pictures because I checked-they are now removed. Stalking lol you really are a first class neanderthal. Those pictures may have contained images of the Portuguese guys.

"The Post reports the sisters were spotted at various night spots on Phi Phi island alongside Tinto and another unidentified Portuguese national."

If the BiB have yet to locate Tinto, and his companion has not been identified, how do they know he is Portuguese?

Unidentified means not identified - it doesn't mean unknown.

The fact that they did not seek medical help suggests ingestion of illicit substances.

No it does not !

It might for examle suggest the time between becoming ill to collapsing unconcious was so short that they coulf not call for help.

But you insist on making sick assertions that they were commiting some substance crime - Go get some help !

Really, ibuprofen is the most dangerous drug they found in their room?

I've never been a basher but this one has finally got to me.

Good god, where is Columbo when we need him.

He died 23 june 2011...

I don't think it mentioned that ibuprofen was the most dangerous drug they found, they can have reasons for not mentioned the other over teh counter drugs they did find.

This is worthy of a crime story, sort of MISS MARPLE and INSPECTOR BARNABY. Two elderly sisters suddenly feeling young again, go on a night club spree with a strange Portuguese. We do not know about any serious life problems that should have caused the sisters to commit suicide. 60-year old women do not normally take benzo drink mixes that would make them pass out, do they?

Why? It was only a case of food poisoning. Who will be made scapegoat this time? Why are the identical murders from 1999 on Phi Phi not solved, were the same two Portuguese men also on holiday or is it a typical case of it must be a foreigner because Thai people don't do such things?

Are you sure it is food poisoning and not chemical????

'Assisting with the forensic investigation, Dr Jakkarat Pittayawong-anon, a specialist from the Bureau of Epidemiology, Department of Disease Control, arrived with his team on Phi Phi Island on Wednesday to collect more evidence needed to discern the exact cause of the sisters’ deaths.

“I’ve come to inspect the scene at the Phi Phi Palm Residence Hotel where the two sisters died. I will also be examining stores and restaurants in the area.”'

Quick off the mark ... !

Indeed very quick. Especially if you can believe reports that within a few hours of the bodies being removed from the room, it was " fumigated, cleaned, vacuumed, disinfected, pasturised, homogenised, and hit with a dose of chlorine topped off with a spray of air fresh, awaiting the next guest. No doubt any fluids remaining in the room went down the drain as well.

Same goes for restaurants and bars as well.

Happy hunting for clues.! Sounds to me like a junket to PP for the weekend.

CSI has a lot to answer for.........every internet forum is now full of two types, the first that have solved the crime by careful deduction due to extensive research watching fictional TV programmes, and the others that think the "crime" should be solved in less than 45 minutes, including time for commercial breaks.

It would be handy if we just got..........facts???

I haven't noticed, have the Canadian authorities sent a police observer? Or any type of medical observer?

I didn't see anything to indicate that anything is new or that this is another incident of foreigners killing foreigners in Thailand. Getting hold of the last people to see them would be part of a normal investigation in determining what they may have been exposed to and who else they were with while out partying that night.

The door was still supposedly locked from the inside and the girls still didn't appear to have tried to get help. But we can guess but until the toxicology reports come back, it is just that .. guessing.

If the Bob had 1/2 a brain they would have reviewed all the CCTV footage as soon as 2 dead bodies showed up. They claim they know there name and where this person of interest stayed so then they also have his passport details. Why they go publishing names with out pictures to be on the look out for these guys tells me they are just trying to foul their names. Are they really even looking for them? Are they suspected of anything? Hunt carries some strong meaning.

So much sensationalism with very little actual facts. Very sad to see how this is progressing.

I sure hope I'm not found dead in my Thai house as we have all sorts of otc drugs like ibuprofen and cold and cough meds. Tiffy. .Decolgen and the like. Next thing all the experts here will say how I od . Many intentional suicide? Or maybe they say I'm high on all the illicit drugs they didn't find and that's why I od on tiffy.
